Adds that certain Je ne sais quoi!
I play acoustic Martin through this box, a keely 4 knob comp. and baggs di/ eq. If you are considering this box, then you know sound is better heard(i know-no s*** Sherlock). Find a retailer near u and try it. I went with recs. and reviews to make my decision and I don't regret it. Usually, the more u spend, the less risk there is in box being junk. I know not always right. This box rounds out tone and gives a nice sound. I am what you'd call an new amateur but if you want to hear the above set up recorded from mixer to ipad go to soundcloud and search for "Koos Keidis". And listen to track entitled "set up sound" or something similar. Oh yeah, my crooning voice is ther as well, listen at your own risk. Lol

It Does Lift A Blanket Off Your Cabinet
I added this to my pedal board last night and what a difference it made. I was going to get an EQ for my pedal board, but after adding the BBE, I saved myself some $$.I chose NOT to run this in my FX Loop for a reason: I like my pedals at my feet. If I wanted it in the loop, I would have purchased the rackmount version. My pedal board runs: Guitar In -> Boss TU-3 Tuner -> BBE Sonic Stomp -> MXR Bezerker OD -> MXR Smart Gate -> MXR Black Label Chorus -> MXR EVH Phase 90 -> AmpAt first I ran this last in the chain after the Phase 90, but it made a lot of noise when engaged. Placing it before the OD and Smart Gate solved the issue and there was no difference in what the BBE delivered in terms of tone.I run Lo Contour at 12:00 and Process at 1:00. I have a Marshall DSL 100 running into a Marshall 1960 A Cabinet. I use only Monster cables. This pedal is a "set it & forget it" for me. Very pleased!

better than an eq pedal?? .. spare me
This is such a lame pedal Its almost embarrassing. an eq pedal does everything this thing does and a whole lot more. Its more like a signal pre-amp with a bass boost and treble tone control.. this is a one trick pony.either on or off.. with an eq pedal you can adjust how much boost you want and dial in a specific tone... with an eq pedal you can use it almost like a two channel amp.. where you can have a sparkling boosted lead at the touch of you foot the add a overdrive pedal after that if you wish.. and have it just the way you dialed it in... If you are new to playing you may find this useful.. lets put it this way you can always find these on line used for about $35. that in itself should tell you something.. bottom line if you want a real kick in the pants boost buy a boss eq or a similar product. if you just want a simple boost you will outgrow soon after you buy it.. well here it is... Danelectro make a bunch of inexpensive pedals that get the job done if you are on a budget.

awesome
I have a friend who uses this pedal as an "always on" effect. I bought one after hearing how great everyone said it was and, you know what? They were right... this pedal is "always on" and it is like taking a blanket off your amp. I would compare it to a gentle mix between a compressor and EQ but better. I got mine on e-bay for about $40 and it's the first generation, just a different color pedal. I highly recommend this to add clarity to your guitar signal. It's a great tool to put inbetween your pedals and your amp. Five stars.
