It is beautiful and comfortable
I'm sitting on this right now. It is beautiful and comfortable. The collapsible end-shelves are a big extra, saves needing to buy end-tables and they take up less space than end tables. As for looks, if you like the picture it is even better in real life. No gotchas or bait-and-switch.During assembly I liked that everything is clearly labeled - you can't go wrong. Besides the usual part numbering like "G" and "4" there are color labels to match pieces up to where they go, and a label on the mattress telling you which end goes front and down. Things like that made assembly easy and with no frustration.I was also impressed with the precision of the machining. Sometimes with cheap furniture you find mis-alignments of holes and you have to pull or push to get things lined up. None of that nonsense with this item. In fact, the instructions for this item warn you to keep certain bolts loose while assembling but I found everything fit so perfectly I could tighten as I went. However, you do need to keep the arms loose until you get the decks inserted into them.ASSEMBLY GOTCHA: The instructions are a little vague at the end and can result in getting the sofa assembled and then realizing you cannot connect the back deck and seat decks together because the wood arms are blocking the holes you need to slip clevis pins into. So here is what you do.1) When all pieces are assembled and it is time to put the decks onto the sofa2) Put the back deck onto the sofa, sticking out about half-way off the back3) Tilt the back deck backwards so it is leaning against the sofa from the back.4) Pull it more and more vertical until the top corners (where the clavis pins go) are above the wood arms so you have access to them5) Place the front edge of the seat deck on the floor inside the sofa, and tilt it upward so its holes line up with the holes of the back deck. You probably will not get it exact.6) Wiggle one side around until you get the clevis pin through, then the other.7) Lift the front edge of the seat deck out of the sofa and lay it in proper position or close to it8) Now you can slide the two pieces around to line up the back deck in its rails and tighten wood arms to finish it up.

Great futon, but doesn't stay upright with the futon mattress on it
This futon is very sturdy, good quality, looks good, and is comfy. The end tables are great too. 2 people sleeping on this thing would be a bit of a squeeze, and anyone over 5'10 will be resting their feet on the arm. I put it together myself no problem - you can too if you can lift 45lbs or so at a time. The instructions miss this step: when assembling, make sure you put the rollers on the back unit before you lay the back unit onto the arms. They go in the top two holes on each side of the back unit. Also you're going to have to fool around trying to get the pin that mounts the seat unit to the back unit in, keep the arms very loose and use the holes where the end tables fold out to get the pins in. The head of the pin faces outwards, while the clip that you clip onto the pin will be on the inside of the couch. It would be easier to attach the seat unit to the back unit before you even put them between the arms, but you might need two people for that.Unfortunately when you are not sitting in it, this unit will not stay in the upright position with the weight of the sofa on it, so I'm forced to have this propped against the wall. Not sure if the cutouts where the rollers go are not to spec on the unit I got or what. I might try to divet the roller grooves out a bit more to try to get the rollers to "lock" in place better in the upright position, but I need to get my hands on a dremel first. This issue is keeping this futon from getting 4 or 5 stars from me.

Very Nice Product
We've owned and used this futon every day for over two and one half years and it is as great today as it was the very first day. When originally delivered, the package was missing a few critical connecting bolts and the seller required a few weeks to get the parts to us. Note that assembling the futon took a number of hours once we had all the parts. What I really like is being able to sleep on it even while it is upright in the seating position. It is comfortable and long enough for me (5'7") to stretch out with head and foot room to spare. Sitting on it is quite comfortable for the two of us - but keep in mind that we are very modest-sized people. The mattress (padding) continues to hold up without collapsing or crushing. We keep the mattress covered with an inexpensive twin-sized fitted sheet to keep it a bit cleaner. The wood structure is also holding up just like new - again, we are not large so it works fine for us. Your mileage may vary.

Great replacement for teen son bed
This was bought for my 14 year old. He is using it in his small bed room instead of a bed. We just got this put together yesterday and I do have to say the instructions could be a little clearer. The construction is very sturdy and easy to convert. the mattress is very comfortable Prior to this mattress my son had a cheap twin size mattress, this is much more comfortable. As far as shipping we were excited that it was shipped a week earlier than amazon had originally said. I would recommend this futon to my friends and family. It also looks beautiful. The side table feature is awesome.

quality product
Only complaint would be that the instructions have sections that are almost unreadable. But for the most part it went together well and is very comfortable. The parts were all well labeled. The wood frame looks very nice. It is a little hard to get back to the seated position at first but once you figure out where to push on it things go better.

Nice wooden frame
Nice wooden frame. The cushion is nice and thick, but definitely feels 'springy' when you are sitting on it. Also, there are no straps to fasten it to the slats, so it has a hard time staying in place. We are constantly trying to boost it up and there is always a lot of cushion hanging off the bottom. Overall, it's a decent futon, but feel it's overpriced for it not being 'perfect'. And it usually does require 2 people to adjust it from couch to bed and back and forth. I probably wouldn't buy it again, just because of the cushion placement issues.
