More than just a hockey romance
In general I enjoy sports romance, and I favor hockey romance the most. One of my favorite hockey romance authors is Sarina Bowen. The Brooklyn Bruisers is a fun hockey romance series, and Sarina Bowen's latest, Overnight Sensation, is so much fun! There is hockey, there are hot hockey players, and there are wonderfully strong women characters! Jason Castro is definitely a hot alpha hockey player, and a player in general! Actually, he's a nice guy who doesn't want a relationship. Heidi, is a determined young woman, working in the Bruisers organization to try to prove her worth to her father. Jason sees Heidi as just another intern - but an attractive, funny young woman. They've gotten to know each somewhat, and are definitely attracted to each other. Now the story gets interesting, as we learn more about Jason and Heidi, and they get to know each other MUCH better. As we enjoy the story, we also get to enjoy the hockey (a win-win for us).I love that Heidi is a such a strong, determined young woman, even though she has some issues and some growing to do (don't we all). Jason also brings his complications to deal with (thus the story), but I like that he's a nice guy. A strong cast of supporting characters, many of whom we already know well, adds to the story. I'm hoping to see more of these characters in future books, especially Silas - he has so much potential as the lead in his own story!I highly recommend this book.

Best Heroine I've Read About in a Long Time
The character of Heidi was just The Best. I had higher hopes for Castro because he appeared lighter hearted in previous books in the series, but he had a lot of baggage and was kind of hurtful. Not horrifyingly awful, but he dragged me down a bit from the genuine enjoyment I had of Heidi. There was a line she muttered about 3/4 through the book about having to do everything and I actually had to set the book down to have a good guffaw, and I don't typically do that. Her determination and relentlessness combined with her genuinely sweet nature, intelligence, politeness and stone-cold competence just killed me. Her crap jobs were awful yet hysterical. I mean, seriously, she got in a mascot brawl. When I first met Heidi in the previous book in the series, she was kind of off-putting, but in hindsight, she was awesome then too. Sometimes I don't always see what's so great about a heroine and just go along with the story, but in this case, I really did. Out of all of the Brooklyn Bruiser books so far, Heidi is by far my favorite girl.

Five Big Golden Stars for Heidi Jo and Jason 💜
I love reading romance novels that make me think beyond the obvious love story they’re telling. Sarina Bowen is my favorite author because she manages to do this in every book she writes, and also because her writing style is fuid and natural, and also witty and beautiful.Overnight Sensation is more of a comedy than the previous books in the Brooklyn Bruisers series. A little lighter in the angst department, perhaps, but it still has its conflict to resolve and emotional baggage to unload.Jason Castro has a reputation. He’s a player on and off the ice. He doesn’t do repeats, much less relationships, and he’s happy to keep it that way. His whole focus is in being the best hockey player he can be, and prove his worth. But Castro has hidden depths. Obviously. He’s a really nice guy with strong values, and a soft spot for Heidi. He’s famous for quoting Shakespeare and Dickens, and has a quirky sense of humor. The nerd factor is strong in him, too.Heidi Jo Pepper is sheltered, polite to the bone, and a little naive. She sets her sights on Castro, wanting him to take her to the wild side for a night, to show her what real passion feels like. Her father’s controlling ways push her to revel against him, and try to be more independent, and find her own way. She proves to be not only efficient and creative, but also resilient and determined. However, things go wrong rather quickly for Heidi, and Jason feels obligated to help her once again. Their proximity and obvious chemistry prove to be too much for Jason to resist. So when things get out of control, as they always do, they will have to decide what they really want for themselves and from each other, and how to get it.I loved, loved, loved Overnight Sensation. It’s sweet, it’s fun, it’s hilarious. Nobody writes Hockey romance quite like Sarina Bowen. And if there is something that Sarina Bowen excels at, is at writing strong female characters. Heidi is not the exception. She is rather fierce. I fell in love with Jason because he’s a sweetheart who’s been trying for so long to protect himself from hurt, he’s confident and charming, and totally swoon worthy. But in my opinion, Heidi steals the show from start to finish. She’s strong, capable, and hilarious. I love her with my whole heart.

Funny, sweet, sexy heroine - you will LOVE her
We have met Jason Castro in other books by Sarina Bowen. But this one is HIS story, and his girl is the very funny, sweet, sexy Heidi. In the book before this one, we met Heidi when she came to help Rebeccas with her job after an injury.Jason has been attracted to Heidi since she began working for the Bruisers. She has been attracted to him as well and finally when the stars align - Boom! Unfortunately, Heidi's dad is not happy that she dropped out of college and he pressures the Bruisers to change Heidi's internship. Now instead of office manager-type work, she is spending a week doing every single job for the organization. From ice girl to custodial to concessions. My favorite thing about Heidi is she NEVER complains about these unappealing jobs. She does everything with gusto and integrity.Meanwhile, she distances herself from her manipulative father and ends up needed a little help from Jason. This causes their relationship to progress and it's adorable. I absolutely loved this book; I think it might be the best of the series.

Character arch!!
Wow I have to admit I started this a few months ago and stopped in the second chapter as I just couldn't connect with such a young main character (Heidi is 21).I came back to unit after picking up the next two books in the series and what a surprise! Heidi's character really develops and grows on you. She's actually a really strong girl with great work ethics. The story follows her internship at the Bruisers made difficult by her father butting in.The romance with Jason is lovely. He is a complex guy with a sad history and it's dealt with very sensitively.Highly recommend, this is a great addition to the series.

Loved it, another winner from the divine Ms Bowen
Four and a half stars.Sarina Bowen does it again! Jason Castro has pretty much everything he ever wanted, playing for the Brooklyn Bruisers, living the good life, easy women and a great set of mates, sure his family think he is wasting his life playing sport and womanising but they think he should be a doctor or a lawyer. On a team night out he keeps catching the eye of the new tem intern, the delicious Heidi, they've been dancing around each other for weeks but Jason has rules about sleeping with women at work - he's a one-and-done kind of guy which doesn't sit well with working alongside them the next day.Heidi Pepper isn't just an intern, she's also the daughter of the Commissioner of Hockey and 100% off limits. When her night with Jason becomes gossip fodder and her father starts laying down the law Heidi decides to move out of her father's Manhattan penthouse suite and into her own apartment, trouble is her pay is pitiful so she ends up staying with Jason and his roomie Silas.I was on the fence about Heidi to start with, I thought she was a little childish and naive, well she is under twenty-one, but she really grew on me. She's so full of grit and determination and character, she grafts so hard and creates a business out of nothing. When her father starts dictating that Heidi do all the most menial jobs (security, cleaning the toilets, selling hot dogs) rather than the office job she was previously doing she just knuckles down and does it.Poor Jason he tries so hard to do the right thing but everything, friends and family conspire against him and he is forced to live cheek by jowl with the delectable, distracting and clever Miss Pepper.Loved it, devoured it on release day, can't wait for Silas' story.

Never Say Never
In a bid for a level of freedom, Heidi Jo Pepper is doing an internship at an ice hockey club in Brooklyn. She is twenty, living with dad and waiting to be twenty one to get access to her trust fund.Jason Castro is a big and wealthy professional hockey player at the same ice club. He is hoping to get an even better season than the previous one. He shares an apartment with Silas another player. He not interested in having a serious relationship or a girlfriend. After three years, Heidi decided to drop out of college and her dad as a punishment has decreed that for ten weeks, she must do her intern jobs as well as all the jobs around at the ice rink. This included selling hamburgers and cleaning the toilets. He also forbade her to have anything to do with any of the hockey players i.e. Jason Castro. In disgust and at a flight for independence she moves out of her dad's luxury apartment and ends up staying on the couch at Jason apartment. This is after being cheated out of a deposit for an apartment. When her dad finds out she and Jason have hooked up he extends her work at the rink by another ten weeks. But what happens next? This book is a pleasant read. There are some twist and turns in the plot that will keep your interest to the end.

Secret crush leading to a fun filled adventures in sorting out Castro's heart
I really loved perky Heidi and loveable Jason. They have the hots for each other but don't act on it, at first.Heidi is such a generous person and as an intern to Becca, quickly wins her over in the previous book Brooklynaire. This time, Heidi's father decides that she needs to make the right choices and go back to college, which she doesn't want to do, so as punishment he decides she has to spend the next 10 weeks in every department at the hockey club. The outcome of this is hilarious in places.Fab story and I now NEED to read the full series!
