Poor Image Resolution
This is a good book as far as content, but I was surprised that a visual artist would not understand the importance of image quality in a book like this. Even when you enlarge the images you cannot see detail. I returned it. I will however order the print version and am hoping it contains a higher quality of images.

Excellent study guide
Claudia Nice is an excellent teacher for watercolor and ink painting. I have several other books of hers on animals, buildings, etc. She goes over every detail, even what materials she uses and trusts. If you are serious about learning this mixed media art you have to get her books. Go to Amazon and search her name or Google her name. You can't go wrong, she is a great teacher. I've learned so much from her!

The BEST!
This is the BEST book on creating textured landscape paintings. Steve Mitchell, "Mind of Watercolor", recommended this, and I was thrilled it was all he said it would be! LOVE IT!

Excellent!
Step by step instructions, including paint colors, brush sizes, hints, detailed drawings - I have a few books that I also really like, but I think this is the BEST one I have used. Really good for novice who has no idea how to paint and add texture to anything that is in a landscape - rocks, water, foliage in distance - this book will be well used by me.

Like all of Claudia Nice's books on pen and watercolor
Like all of Claudia Nice's books on pen and watercolor, this is jam packed with beautiful techniques explained and demonstrated well. She has many illustrations and the text in them concise and effective in gorgeous calligraphy. Her books are both great instruction and wonderful works of art. The author has improved my art journals 1000% with these books, this is a good one. Any of hers are good ones. Some of her tools are a bit fiddly, I use the disposable Pigma Micron pens instead of touchy Rapidograph technical pens and settle for the colors they come in rather than load in watercolor, but she is a great mistress of pen work. Also dip pens like a crowquill are a way around using Rapidographs loaded with watercolor.

Best book I have seen on pen & ink and watercolor.
This will be one of my favorite reference books for sketching with pen & ink textures and painting it with water colors. I love her illustrations, and the detailed instructions. Now I need to find more time to put this into practice. Great book, and I am excited that I now have it in my reference library. I ordered the book used, and it came promptly and in good condition.

Great info for beginners it pros
What a great book. First borrowed it from the library—then had to have it. Great paintings made easy. Author walks you through a variety of usual and unusual technique to complete a spectacular painting. I really learned a lot!

Many art instruction books read more like motivational manuals rather than offer any real instruction
I stated the same thing for her "Weathered Buildings" book. Many art instruction books read more like motivational manuals rather than offer any real instruction. Claudia's books are great because they are full of illustrations regarding all her many different techniques and with little notes to boot.

Beautiful artwork and useful information in this book, I would recommend any of Claudia Nice books
I added this book to my growing collection of books from this author. I love her books, the artwork is beautiful and Claudia is a good teacher, loads of tips and techniques for various textures. She goes over basics, tools, and materials in all of her books so beginners will benefit from this info'. It has useful info and techniques for improved and not experienced artists too. Beautifully combining water colour and pen and ink.

Excellent book
I have a lot of art books and this one is immediately a favourite - packed with lots of painted examples of dozens of different ways to paint realistic textures and what they can be used for. Instead of one example a page which some books have, this has loads of ideas on every page for painting and drawing such things as stones, gravel, leaves, bark, lichen etc.
