PFEIL "Swiss Made" 25mm # 7 Sweep Bent Gouge

I recently started carving spoons and ladles. I purchased a less expensive gouge from another manufacturer that does work well but doesn't hold an edge well. I was carving with my uncle recently and he had a set of these gouges and after working with them, I had to have one. My old gouge arrived with some burrs on the edge (I was able to remove them) and has a less elegant feel and weight. This tool arrived very sharp and cuts like a dream. They'll both have their place in my toolbox but this gouge will be a favorite.

I purchased this gouge for carving kuksas and larger spoons. The tool is made very well indeed, and it solid and beautiful. It carves incredibly well, and the handle seems strong, and holds up to blows with a wood mallet. The handle was slightly coarsely finished, but a light sanding with fine grit paper had feeling perfect in the hands in just a couple of minutes.I will be buying more Pfeil gouges.

Artived on time and packaged very well. Was sharp enough that I was able to work on a bowl without initial honing. It cuts through maple very nicely and holds a decent edge. Is curved just enough to shape a deep bowl concave without catching or binding. I would not have a problem ordering again or suggesting others to buy.

This product worked well out of the box. It came sharp, and I have not had to sharpen it after ~2 weeks of use. I am currently using it on seasoned honey locust wood, and cuts well with and across the grain. This was my first decent chisel I have purchased, and am pleased with the result.

This thing exactly what its supposed to do: Shovel vast quantities of wood -fast-. Love it! That curve really allows you to get in there too. Inspired me to just order a 40mm straight.

What an amazing tool! My favorite so far. Will definitely be getting more Pfeil tools when I can save up! Perfectly sharp upon arrival.

I use these for carving spoons and bowls I've used cheaper ones and they were a waist of money
