NEW RECIPE CONTAINS MENADIONE :-(
So disappointed! My cats love the Turkey, Sweet Potato and Spinach Beyond. No sooner had I discovered this food that Purina changed the recipe, adding the artificial and controversial form of Vitamin K (K3) Menadione. The ingredients listed in the description on Amazon reflect the OLD recipe, not the new one introduced in February of 2018. The Beyond line is a natural line, so it is very disheartening that Purina has added this potentially toxic form of Vitamin K to its formula. It has been banned in human food, and the long-term ingestion of it, even in minute quantities, is unknown. Further, from what I have researched it is not even necessary to include, Vitamin K being required in foods that contain more than 25% fish. Other companies are taking it out (like other questionable ingredients like carrageenan).

Made my cat throw up
We just switched to Purina and my cat has thrown up twice from eating this. We thought it was because he’s not used to the food or ate too quickly, so we gave it to him in smaller portions, then we found this while cutting up the food. A plastic string about the length of my index finger inside the food! I don’t know if it’s just this batch but it makes me question the quality of the entire Purina Beyond line.

Horrible New Recipe
I ordered these cans not knowing that this is not the same product I've been buying which has the words "Simple Origins Farm Raised Chicken & Sweet Potato Recipe" on the front of the package. When I opened it, I saw that it looks different (rather gross) and smells awful. I put it in the cat's dish and the cat was purring and excited to eat. The cat smelled it, stopped purring, and walked away refusing to eat it. I have two other cats and I offered it to them and they reacted in exactly the same way. I cannot return this 12-can package because now one can is used up, so I will be throwing this crap in the trash can. I won't even donate it to Goodwill or a homeless pet shelter because I suspect this lousy food will end up poisoning some innocent animal. I am unable to find the words to express how unhappy I am with this product and the loss of $13.

A little fun fact, they also lack taste buds that sense ...
As someone who is educated in animal health, including nutrition, I am abhorred at the standards of food for pets. Majority of feline foods are nutritionally comparable to cardboard, I exaggerate, but to give those who don't know a little brain stew cats are OBLIGATE carnivores. This evolutionary aspect to felines is supported by their lack of enzymes in their saliva for breaking down carbohydrates. A little fun fact, they also lack taste buds that sense "sweet" tastes, as they aren't adapted to consuming glucose containing foods. These facts are why I constantly am reevaluating my choices for feeding my furry feline companion. Grain free foods are all I will feed her. I search for the most meat based ones I can find since the potatoes and carrots, etc. that are advertised in foods aren't beneficial. She loves this food!! Being a cat and therefore having to be difficult, she will only eat 1/3 of a can. This is fine as this product is easily stored in a tupper ware or ziploc bag. If it doesn't seem juicy enough I will top the leftovers with chicken broth or fish oil to give it some extra moisture and nutrition. Even without, she will happily eat all the leftovers. I have yet to try the other flavors since she's particular. Although I would love for her to have some better variety in her food, aside from bugs and lizards, this salmon flavor is my absolute go to choice.I have purchased this four times now, and will continue to purchase it; as it is the best choice I have in my arsenal for canned foods to keep the little fur babe in excellent health.

Bad Batch!
I have been trying to switch my cats over to a better quality cat food and so far this is the one they have done the best on; however when I opened up my third box today, I was disgusted to find leaking cans and maggots! I wish I could take a picture of the horrific smell, as well. I had set this up as a monthly reorder, but will change my mind if they don't replace this spoiled batch. This is the first time I have ever purchased wet cat food and had spoiled product :(
