Good, solid stand at a great price!
After assembling and testing the drum stand, here is what I learned. The stand is plenty sturdy, with a thick, rubberized covering over metal ends to protect the floor and your drum shell. Even with vigorous playing, the stand stayed in place, and none of the adjustments came undone. The stand was not hard to put together. The amazon stock photos show you what to do. Basically, there are three pieces: a top portion, a bottom portion, and a drum stick holder/pouch. The top portion has two adjustments: one to hold the drum, and the other to adjust the angle of the drum head. The bottom portion sits on the floor, with a neck clamp to adjust the overall height of the drum, and a lower clamp to adjust the width of the feet. The drum stick holder/pouch has a single clamp, to affix the drum stick holder to the top portion of the stand. To assemble, fit the top portion into the bottom portion and tighten the lower portion clamp over the neck where the two pieces fit together. This adjusts the overall height of the drum. There is also a clamp on the bottom portion to adjust the width of the feet on the floor. Once you've put the two pieces together, you can open the drum shell clamp on the top portion, using the large black plastic knob, to accept the drum shell. Then slowly turn this knob to tighten the clamp on the drum shell. Only tighten as much as needed to secure the shell, and no more! I think it is good that Donner made this knob out of plastic. It helps prevent you from exerting too much force, and damaging your drum shell. I can imagine that a metal knob would encourage the use of too much force, making it easy to crush the shell. At this point, you can adjust the height of the drum head so it matches the rest of your set. You should realize that there is a tradeoff - putting the feet farther apart will be more stable, but this will also lower the drum height. To offset that change, you can loosen the neck clamp to raise the drum. In other words, the top portion should be extended as far as possible while maintaining good support, which allows the bottom portion to have the feet spread farther apart for maximum stability. Once the drum height is correct, and the feet are positioned where you want them, use the other clamp on the top portion to set the drum head angle in the perfect position for playing. Finally, it is time to install the drum stick holder. Fully open the clamp on the drum stick holder, and place the circular part around the upper neck of the top portion. You may find it easier to slowly open the drum stick holder clamp until just before it is completely undone, and then push the barely-closed clamp onto the upper neck of the top portion. It takes some pressure to get this clamp over the upper part of the neck, so don't be surprised if you need to push on it a little bit. To double-check yourself, I've attached a close-up picture of this clamp after installation, so you can see where it goes. Rotate the holder/pouch to where you want to store your sticks, and then you can tighten the clamp to make it fit the neck properly. You are now finished with assembly!I really like the clamps and tilt mechanism built into this stand. They can hold a wide variety of drums, securely, in a wide variety of positions. Mine was a 12" snare, but it can easily hold larger drum heads. The drum stick holder is a very handy addition to the stand. While it takes some care to install, it is nice that you can rotate the holder to any location you desire. Now I don't have to figure out where to lay my sticks, so they don't roll off a nearby shelf or table.Overall, this is a good, sturdy design that is well worth the price. It is just as stable and durable as more expensive stands, even some that cost twice as much. Plus - it has a very useful holder for drum sticks. I like it!

Heavy but useful
Heavy duty stand. Great for the price.Would not recommend if you are often moving your drumset as it is heavier than I anticipated, but works well for our home set.

Good functionality for a very modest price.
This is a pretty solid snare / accesory stand. For a fraction of the price of a brand name stand you get adequate functionality. All parts matched correctly, were well terminated and assembled without any problem. The butterfly adjustment knobs are small but make good contact with the parts they secure.Among the very good features:The grip arms can close to hold objects about 8 in. either in diameter or length. I found this very handy to also hold drum machines, racks and even guitar multi-effects while adjusting, and not having to bend down continuosly. As a regular stand, you can change the insert size of the upper part into the lower and also adjust the leg opening to achieve different heights with varying leg area.It folds to a very compact size.Comes with a stick holder (documentation says it holds up to 10 sticks), that attaches either to the top of the upper part or to the lower part.A couple of adjustments make easier to work with the stand:Since the grip arms that hold the snare are slightly off center to the lower base, it helps to position one of the three legs pointing away from the player, directly under the snare, to help the balance in that direction. If you attach the holder (as shown) to the top of the upper base you may not have too much room to take sticks easily out of the holder. In that case you may attach the holder either to the middle of the upper base (would need a rubber insert to the clamp ) or to the lower base (no need for an insert). With the grip tightening knob towards the outer end of the threaded bolt, you can adjust (close or open) the grips without having to turn the knob. The knob prevents the grips from opening once the proper size is achieved and then to tighten the grips. I would recommend not using the knob clockwise (CW) to close the loaded grips from a fully open position, since the knob is all plastic and the bolt is metal. Rather, with no load, turn first the knob CCW just to allow you to open the grips to a size just larger than the load, then place the load and turn the knob CW gently just to get a better grip. Lubricating the bolt in which the knob threads into would also be a good idea.

Recommend for beginners or children. Not great for a practice pad
I bought this stand as I needed something that would work with a practice pad. It turned out to be a little short but would probably be appropriate for a child or full size drum. For a practice pad it was too short for my use. The stand did feel stable while set up and the appearance would be suitable for any begging. The stick bag was a little disappointing as I found it hard to find a place on the stand where I could easily grab a pair of sticks and still have it attached properly. The plastic nut to tension the stand does feel a little cheaply made but that is common among the price point and can be easily remedied if it becomes an issue.

Solid budget stand.
This stand is good for a budget stand. I use it for my practice pad and it’s fine. The stick holder is a nice plus. Why does it smell funny though?
