Invaluable
Sometimes it's hard to get grab rails for the areas where they are most needed - particularly if , for instance, the walll or post is hollow, or simply not solid. There was just one solid post on the staircase which I could use after virtually every solid wall surface had been sprinkled with grab rails big and small - but I needed to help my elderly mum not list herself up on her one good hand buy follow the post round to the main stair landing proper. This did just that on a tun with both fixing bases flat to surface but following the curve of the post. Brilliant. I'm not good at explaining but it's perfect and was early installed and is fixed in place, Great fitting for an awkward area. And well below the price of specialist mobility outlets on high streets and shopping estates. They may not be pretty but they are functional.

Very effective and not intrusive
Bought for ancient Mother and it is perfect. Easy to fix. Easy to grip. Easy to clean. It is attached to a white newel post so no visual impact and does not stick out into the stairway enough to a hindrance. It has helped honour her wish to re-acquire and remain independence after 2 months in hospital - invaluable so worth every penny.

Makes negotiating stairs a lot safer
Simple, strong, efficient. My wife had a couple of bad falls a few months back and had difficulty in getting up and down stairs, Our local social services fitted one of these at no cost to us and it has proved (probably quite literally!) a life saver. So when my Mum had similar difficulties due solely to age I had no hesitation in getting her one via Amazon. Easy to fit. Zero maintenance. The 1-inch diameter of the bar is a good choice too. Yes, you do need to supply 6 screws yourself but then you get to choose the length/strength of the screws so not really a problem. At first, 27 inches may seem a bit long - in practice this gives you more accessibility at the top and bottom of the rail, which is where the user first needs it, so long is good.Caution: at the time of writing the left-handed and right-handed versions on Amazon had the same product photo.Choose carefully!

It seems to do the job
I wanted something to steady me round the corner at the top of the stairs. It took a while, and a few purchases, to find the right screws but glad I persevered.

Stair grab rail
Excellent aid

Excellent and strong.
This rail fits perfectly on the newel post and the faces of both ends fit flat and square to the post. I did have to adjust it slightly before deciding on the perfect position and height to screw it to so I would recommend putting some masking tape on both faces of the post where this will screw to. This will prevent any scratches on the post as you offer it up and adjust it to find the best mounting point (although there are no rough edges), and once you have decided the best position you can pencil inside the drill holes. It has been fitted for a few months now and a few heavy people who are unsteady on stairs have pulled heavily on the rail and it is as sturdy as when it is fitted.

Great sturdy handle.
This is a great handle to have for getting in and out of the door.

No Frills , does what it should.
Does the job. Alignment is good, sits square. Its not the best finish, paint flaking on and and bolt holes ( easily touched up though). Nothing to hide screws, so look to buy decorative caps, or SS dome headed screws. Anything that will make fixings look a little more discrete.
