Sturdy boot pull
Perfect for the horse trailer: clean and pull off your boots. Heavy enough to stay put. 👍

Okay but not as nice as I hoped
I purchased this because I thought it would work to scrape off the soles as well as pull off boots. It blends in nicely with the garden it is next to and is sturdy enough to do a decent job cleaning up muddy shoes. The brushes are not as useful as I hoped and after only a short time outside are showing wear and the paint is peeling. Bottom line is I like the cast iron part of the design but not the brushes.

Works for me
Almost didn't buy this because of other reviews. Nice solid construction. Inspected closely and didn't find any casting flaws or breaks. Heel cup is a little small for my size 11 men's cowboy boots but works. I don't think my combat boots or most garden boots will fit

Really quite disappointed in the actual size
Really quite disappointed in the actual size. I was at first excited about the price and on this awesome looking boot scraper so I ordered two. When I pulled them out of the box, I was saddened at the size. My boot barely fits in between the brushes and it has not place to screw down so it doesn't stay put when trying to pull off a boot. If you have on the ground, it just buries itself so you end up with a scraper at ground level. Not what I wanted but I didn't want to pay for the return so there ya go.

What is needed for any muddy or dusty boots entering the garage or house. Am thinking about getting another one for the shop area!

Better if the boot jack was for adults
Dislike width for boot jack! My kids can use it fine. My hubby and I can't use it for any boot I own. I was planning on using this to take off my cowboy boots or my bogs but neither fit in the jack part at all. It fits a kids boot great but my kids don't use it.I do like the grate and brushes. Work great to clean off mud, wet or dry. Just wish it was a bit wider for the jack so I don't need to buy a jack to put next to it

Boot jack
Purchased this item in February 2011 and it has finally given up the ghost. The cast iron was quick to rust though remained reasonably functional though the space between the brushes is rather narrow for larger sized boots/wellies. Despite being cast iron it is too lightweight to remain in place when attempting to remove wellies and the boot jack itself is not large enough to be able to hold it in place using your other foot. However the wooden backed brushes started to split a few months ago and now have finally done so, having fallen off completely, rendering it useless for cleaning mud. The design idea is a good one in principal but in practice the quality isn't there.

Not worth the money
Having had this item less than 5 months, I am really disappointed. It stands outside the back door in a sheltered position and is useful for scraping muddy shoes having been on the garden. This morning on of the brushes fell in half!!! My husband has fixed it with some glue, but having paid around £20 I would have expected it to last a bit longer!!!! Update. the brushes are gradually falling apart. Absolutely useless. Don't waste your money!!!

boot scraper
boot scraper and brushes do a good job when coming indoors from the garden. They are not to be compared with the super heavyweight Victorian models which weigh so heavily that they'd never move once set in place. That said, you'd have to pay 10-20 times the price for the really heavy ones. Anyway, a good DIY solution is possible by affixing permanently in position using readily available fixings or fixatives from your DIY store.

Does the job but not that durable
Fairly heavy so doesn't blow around when left outside but you still need to use your other foot to hold it in place to remove your boot. The bristles have started falling out too so eventually it'll be too bald to use to clean boots. It does live outside in all weathers but I feel it should be able to deal with that.
