Great book for the young or old!
I read this book as it was assigned to my daughter for a middle school English class. I loved it! The writing was outstanding and the story was interesting. Great twist at the end that I did not see coming. For anyone, young or old, interested in fairy tales, medieval folklore and new takes on the legend of King Arthur- you will not be disappointed!

He who draws the Sword from the Stone...
This is an interesting take on the King Arthur/Merlin story, not the Sword in the Stone or Once and Future King version that we all know and love. Taken from that view, this book reads well and is fascinating. Hooked all of us, grandparents and grandson, the latter requested his own copy so we now have two paperbacks and one Kindle copy.

Could have been worse, I guess
Every time I start a work of Arthurian fantasy, I hope for the best, but I'm usually disappointed. This one was not nearly as bad as some I've read, and it did take a novel approach to Guinevere which was interesting. It also made Arthur a likable character, which does not always happen, so it could have been worse. Still, don't think I'll go looking for more since it's mostly just a rehashing of the same old story. Some day, someone is going to write a new version with a fresh outlook which will make Arthurian fanatics delirious with joy, but this is not it.

Amazing
Most of the Arthurian facts are correct, with a bit of a twist, but the story is well written and engaging till the end!

Awesome book. It's a lot of fun for those interested in King Arthur legends. I did this book with my 8th grade classes, and they liked the ending plot twist a lot.

Another new twison an old tale
Unsurprisingly Ms Yolen has written a very different novel set in the early days of Arthur's reign whilst repecting the traditional myth particularly the conflict between the king and his halfsister Morgause ,the part played by Merlin and the first reference to Guinevere The portrayal of Arthur as very much the warrior rather than the statesman feels realistic and nthere are a twist or two at the end which almost took me by surprise i must definitely look out more of this author's work

Sword of the Rightful King
A retelling of the King Arthur tales with some twists and turns throughout that keep the story fresh for today’s modern audience. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to others.I hope you find my review helpful.
