I love mike hammer always have including the 84 version which am surprised is not on amazon streaming yet. Mike hammer private eye is still a great show to watch despite some changes being made, love the way they show you Manhattan keach is still good in the role good suspense still like the mystery woman that follows him around everywhere & the action little annoyed it didn't get enough viewers to stay on the air didn't the older generation that use to watch it knew about this spin off the only detail that I didn't like was capt chambers was not in this well played by Don Stroud good actor who is rarely seen in a good guy role instead they cast Peter Jason to play skip Gleason aside from that still love this show to watch please sony pictures give amazon the older version for streaming including the tvm from may of 89 mike hammer murder takes all

What a Fun Show!
This latest foyer into the Mike Hammer Franchise was loads of fun to watch! Mood inspiring background music, loads of clever criminals involved in various capers and schemes helped to make the show a blast to watch. This series also featured lots of innuendo and clever word play especially when adult themed elements materialized in the dialog and/or the plot. If I had to guess to a "maturity rating" like in the movies, I would think a PG-13 would come close. I really enjoy this series, and my only complaint is that it did not last longer and provide us with more episodes. Of coarse Stacy Keach did a great job in playing his roll!Really, the casting was good all the way around! I would recommend this to anyone who enjoyed the Dirty Harry films with Clint Eastwood, or the earlier televised or written Mike Hammer endeavors also. This think fans of the 80's series Sledge Hammer would find this particular version of Mike Hammer interesting as well!

Great Stories with Great Action
This is a modern adaptation of the "Cinema Noir" movies of the 40's and 50's. Mike is a tough, no nonsense PI who isn't afraid to knock some heads together to get to the truth. He even wears a felt fedora a la the PI's of the 40's. Stacey Keach plays the tough, sarcastic PI to a "T". If you want fun, fast action stories to watch, get this collection. Oh, BTW, all of the women in the stories love him, but what the heck, he's the star!

An old school detective series
I vaguely remembered watching some of these shows as a kid. I enjoy watching TV with my 12 year old son in the evenings, however everything tends to be very violent or have very sexual themes. I bought this series hoping it would have enough intrigue to catch his interest but not too much senseless violence or intense adult themes. I was also hoping to avoid some of the explicit sexual scenes and inuendo today's modern prime time television has. Mike Hammer, Private Eye - The Complete Series The series is fun and has caught my son's attention. There is slightly more violence than I would like, and the main character loves to be considered a ladie's man. I would rate this series a PG-13 by todays standards.Take this series for what it is. Mike Hammer is an old school "throwback" detective. The acting and the stories are obviously from the early 90's. If you like these old prime time detective shows, you can not go wrong for the price! It is cheap entertainment and is something my 12 year old son and I enjoy watching together.

1997 Mike Hammer series
I didn't even know there was a 1997 hammer revival series. I liked the 2 classic series. This one is really no different, same plots, same narration by Mike and same mysterious woman in every episode that he sees for about 15 seconds. The budget on these shows was cheap, you can tell this show was a few steps above what a seasoned home video maker could make for themselves, the acting by the supporting cast is not the best (Keach ofcourse does a great job). But somehow, this show keeps me watching! The story lines are good enough where it keeps me seeing it all way through and then on the next episode. All in all a very good series considering it's low budget set backs. Too bad it wasn't picked up for another season, 50 episodes would have been great, but 26 aint too bad either, great price for the set too.

Not the 1980s series
First, I'll say I do enjoy this series. However, the sound, the video quality, the music and Velda were better in the 1980s. Lindsay Bloom is the quintessential Velda. She is what I think of when I think of Velda. Tanya Roberts is close, but just doesn't have the personality and personal characteristics that make Lindsay Bloom so adorable. She isn't just sex, she is personality, cuteness, behaviorally and things I just can't put words to. There is just some feeling I get watching the 1980s series that I don't feel with the 1990s series. It can't be explained, except that the 1990s being filmed in CA didn't help. It lost the feeling of the New York nights and the streets and people, the places and feeling of New York. The better music in the 1980s series helped a lot, too. We need to bombard CBS with letters and email asking them to make the 1980s series available on DVD.Since I wrote the above I've watched more of the 1990s series and I've begun to count the flaws, not in any particular order:1. Velda was brunette, not blonde.2. Mike Hammer was in the army, not the USMC, as stated in one episode.3. Why did they change Lawrence Barrington to Barry Lawrence using the same actor?4. Hammer still calls his .45 "Betsy", but in one episode it is chromed or SS, while in most other episodes it is blued. So, does he call two different guns "Betsy"?There are more, I just can't think of them now.I've been watching "Peter Gunn" each night before I watch Hammer. It is amazing how Peter Gunn set the mold for detective shows--the music, the city sites, the bar, etc.

Alterserscheinungen

Mike Hammer as we all love him!
Since I love Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer in books as well as in movies and tv shows and since the second Mike Hammer show wasn't aired in German, I was happy to get it at least in English language - an was not disappointed. Stacy Keach performed a really good job, as he did on the first show. A must for all fans of Stacy Keach and Mike Hammer as well.

Hammer's Back
Mike Hammer is back. Stacey Keach reprises his role as the two-fisted private eye with an eye for the ladies. In this updated version Hammer is older and even has an assistant helping him solve the cases. This is a wittier Hammer with comedic undertones but make no mistake, Mike Hammer remains hard-boiled. Fans wouldn't want it any other way. TWO THUMBS UP!
