A video for experienced sailors, not beginners
This is one of the best sailing videos I've ever watched. I haven't sailed in the worst of the conditions they show (some sample footage from the old Whibread race is ASTONISHING--flying spinnakers in 50kt winds) but I've been out in 25-30 knot winds and could really relate to what they were talking about. What I learned from experience, and they give the formula, is that 30kts of wind carries 4 times the force of 15 kts. Think about that! I found the instructions on reefing to be valuable. I've reefed dozens upon dozens of times in moderate winds, but their instructions on doing it right in heavy winds will save you from shredding your mainsail. I am buying this video for myself after watching it on Netflix and to show to whomever is dumb enough to go out with me in these conditions. With a bigger budget, some helicopter shots (or modern CGI graphics) would have been helpful to illustrate steering in large waves. One point I wish they made was the amount of physical pounding your body takes in the cockpit. One other suggestion to add, it would useful suggest adding padding cushioning on sharp edges like cockpit coamings. You can really get slammed around on a rough day. On Monday morning in the office after a 25 kt sail on Sunday, I've been as bruised as if I played a rough game of football. But like a good game of football, it's wicked fun.

Good stuff
I liked this video. There was some really helpful tips that were provided. Some of which I wish I had known when I encountered gale force winds on the great lakes a few times. At least now, I will be that much more prepared. If you're new to sailing, I recommend this, but make sure you brush up on some of the technical sailing terms in advance.

Good info and review for those with fin keel / spade rudder types of boat; still interesting for those with full keel / attached rudder boats. Some tactics will be different depending on the boat type. Very interesting overall.

Be prepared for heavy weather sailing
The Maine Hunter Sailing Association used this video for our spring member training seminar. Everyone gave the video high marks on our evaluation. Good general things to think about and practice ahead of time and some helpful specific things to do to be prepared, e.g. pre-mark your halyards for reefing. Folks wanted to stop the video and make notes. It merits seeing over and over. We want to know what happened to the crew man who is repeatedly shown falling overboard!!

Sailing in Heavy Weather
Above all, the advice given is to the point, well illustrated and useful. This is more or less a technical video and worth a look on that premise. Some of the footage is interesting and the instruction seems solid. The quality is not the best - hard to hear the speaker at times.

Interesting but really boring for such an exciting topic

good tutorial
This is an awesome tutorial, however I thought it would show sailing incidents where they would have encountered actual storms
