Olympus Stylus SP-100 IHS 16 MP Digital Camera + 16GB Pixi-Basic Accessory Bundle

For infrequent use by an amateur, the dot sight is amazing. With a little practice at the start of each trip, I was able to catch distant moving targets with amazing ease. My goal is to capture the memories, not to produce professional-looking photos, and this camera allowed me to exceed my goals. For me, it is a bit big and heavy, but much smaller than the amount of gear some of my fellow travelers were packing -- and I got a lot of pictures that they missed. My biggest complaint was when trying to get to the critter on the back side of the tree -- even when set to the smallest focus zone, sometimes the autofocus used the leaves around my target that were much closer. After a couple of trips, I figured out how to switch to manual focus mode, but that takes too long for this amateur and the critter often moved. I found it better not to zoom too much while taking the shot. The resolution is good enough that you can zoom & crop on your computer later (remember, capturing the memory is my goal).

This camera would not fire the flash in a dark closet at night while on iAuto. iAuto is supposed to be the setting which does all the work for you. I sent it back to Olympus and they returned it so quickly that I was suspicious. Nothing was changed; still failed. I called them and was told not to use the iAuto function, but to use the "P" function. I conclude that Olympus has a flaw that they won't fix. They certainly lack honor.

I finally upgraded to a better camera. And boy what an upgrade!!! The previous cameras are nothing compared to the Olympus Stylus SP-100. I can take photos just about anywhere and they always come out great even indoors! I definitely recommend this camera and for the price. You will find same quality cameras for over $1,000.

I love this camera...it's fast speed lets me capture the wings of a Hummingbird with any delay....taking several frames per shot....it's light weight, and easy to operate.
