I've had several porch light solutions over the years so that there was light at my front door at night. I tried the light sensor that you screwed into the fixture and a smart bulb that was supposed to go off and on based on sunrise/sunset times but they weren't reliable. This LED bulb has a photosensor built in so you just screw it in and make sure there's power to the bulb. As soon as it gets dark enough, the light goes on and then when it gets light enough, the bulb turns off. Saves me from programming and making sure the bulb is still connected to my wifi. It's also nice for the winter months when it can be dark before the actual sunset so the light will come on as soon as it's dark enough to need it. Bulb is nice and bright and looks great and makes sure my front door and porch are lit up at night.

I originally bought one of these dusk to dawn light bulbs for my lamppost out front. It worked like a charm! As a matter of fact, it worked so well that I bought another one for my back porch light. Both outdoor fixtures have glass coverings. The cool white is a bright light which mimics daylight. There is no need to install a timer, and no need to be home. All you need to do is leave the switch in the On position and the light automatically turns on at dusk and turns off at dawn. I purchased these lightbulbs 18 months ago and I have never had any problems. Highly recommend

I wanted to get something that would come on automatically because during the winter my front porch is pitch black when I get home. Nice bright white light when I get home so no more fumbling to find the right key and get it in the lock without being able to see what the heck I'm doing.

Works as expected, turns on a dusk and off at dawn. Clear white color. Currently have one on the outside garage driveway light. Great because i no longer need to remember to turn it off and its always on when we arrive home. Great since the only switch for that light is in the garage for the driveway...poor set up but this light makes that problem less inconvenient. Good buy.
