The Queen of Romance Continues Her Reign.
This is the third book in The Razor Bay series by Susan Andersen and, by far, my favorite. I love couples with a past and Diego (uh huh) and Tasha have it in spades. Everything by Susan Andersen is on my Kindle and she is an automatic preorder for me. The way her novels flow and the ease in which they progress makes her one of my favorite authors. Her heroines are always feisty and take crap from no one. The heroes are alpha and always brought to their knees-for more than one reason. This new book was worth what seemed like an eternal wait. The love scenes are steamier and the fight scenes are verbally choreographed for the readers complete entertainment. This book downloaded last night and I just finished it. But her books always do that to me. Chapter 16 is awesome and Diego, or Luc, is now one of my favorite "Susan" heroes. One of her strengths is the appeal of the supporting characters. I am hoping we get to see Peyton and a couple of the others get a story later on. You cannot go wrong with this book or the series. I highly recommend them both.

Where is Susan Andersen?
This was a very sweet book. Which is not what the excerpt and cover led me to believe I was buying. Dang. The beginning was so promising ... I mean, what could piss a heroine off more than a smooth-talking bad boy hero who lands her in a nasty foreign jail and then leaves her there? Yessss! I was on board for the superb, sexy conflict of which this author is capable!Susan Andersen can write circles around many other romance authors.Sadly, in her latest series, she seems to have left her prime (Exposure, Head Over Heels, Baby, Don't Go) behind. Her books now delve into pop psychology in a big way, which means for the reader that every character is busy conversing as if they have spent years in therapy. High school kids, mechanic dads and all couples know how to emote on their feelings in a very educated way and do so at the drop of a hat. They also solve problems with a quick conversation with a mentor, bff or family member.Oh, if only life were so neat and tidy. Sorry, but it's not, and neither is really gripping romance. In this story, it all adds up to a rather tame blend of extreme niceness.

Boring
I enjoyed Susan Andersen's early books but found her recent ones much less compelling and went on an "Andersen break". I thought I'd try No Strings Attached to see if things had changed. They haven't. In fact, this book was very hard to get through. It started out pretty well but within a few chapters the tension was all over, the dialogue was uninteresting and the rest of the story felt like a hard slog. The characters were attractive but were hardly developed at all and while there was definitely lust between H/h, I just couldn't see why they would stay together once the sex became more routine; the secondary plot involved a couple of teenagers I just plain didn't care about even though it rang "truer" than H/h; and there was a lot of filler about the back stories of the other secondary characters from earlier books. In all, this was a bore and it certainly did not deliver any kind of emotionally satisfying HEA (for the reader). I would pass on this one.

Ms. Andersen's best ever
I have read all of her books - a lot of them more than once. This book has so many characters that were all clearly defined that made the book really interesting. Interesting enough that I did not want it to end. Enjoy.

Missing the wit and snappy dialog of her older work....
I keep buying, hoping for the Susan Andersen I loved in her earlier books, like Shadow Dance, Obsession and Just For Kicks. I find myself getting bored with so many series that apparently intend to go on until EVERYONE in the whole darn town has found someone to marry. So, I'll just keep rereading my Susan Andersen favorites and look for new ones at the library or used.
