The building blocks of your education
This is also another must read if you are in the construction business or looking into getting into that field of study. I use this for my architecural engineering classes and my professor swears by it that it will be helpful to you even if you have years of experience.

Great Book!
This book appears to be written for educational purposes, but is a great reference for any construction professional. It contains detailed descriptions of many construction processes, and there are plenty of pictures that help to clarify important details.

Mediocre Textbook that Misses Important Features
I will give credit by saying the book is very detailed and comprehensive in scope. However, it utilizes poor quality black and white images, which are somehow still a thing in2017, and relies heavily on dense columns of text rather than visual aids which makes reading the book very tedious and boring. Improved image textures and more contemporary images along with color printing would be much better. Avoid buying this at your college as they will price gouge you.

This book is really good and in depth enough to give you a full understanding of construction from start to finish. It branches off into various structural and cladding systems. The 3D drawings/diagrams are very informative but wish there were more 2D drawings since this is how architects would normally represent such systems when being designed and ultimately built. This book should definitely be paired with Allen's other book, "Architectural Detailing" to get a more thorough understanding of construction. A few drawings from FBC reappear in "Architectural Detailing" but this understandable and necessary. Overall, this book contains a good mix of text and graphics and explains how and why things are done. The book is quite massive and takes patience and time and get through. I got lazy a few times and tried to skip some sections of the book but realized upon skimming that pretty much every page of this book is packed with important and concise information. The paper and print quality of the book is average at best but it's to be expected due to its breadth and cost (relatively cheap). I think it was a fair tradeoff. But I didn't know it was possible to make paper this thin. Underlining with a pencil shows up on the back of the page.

Its Good
The book is through in explanations. It can be very dry but the visuals are good. Be aware that construction techniques vary in areas. Its a good benchmark for building systems
