Govee LED Strip Lights for Bedroom Kitchen Party

High-end packaging was my first sign that out of all the LED strip lights on the market, I had definitely chosen a good one. Govee's quality packaging shows that they're proud of their product and care about how it looks to you when you receive it. After unpacking, I installed the Govee Home app on my phone, clicked the "+" and followed the instructions to add the strip light lights as a new device, give it a name and connect it to my WiFi network. Once connected, Alexa picked it up so I could use Alexa, as well as the App to control the strip lights by name. The 3M adhesive on the back of the strip is extremely sticky - I installed this strip by just pressing it around the edge of a window frame. Govee also includes little plastic support clips but I didn't need them. The Govee Home app is loaded with features: - A timer (of course you can also set up a timer in Alexa or Google) - A "Brightness" slider control (the lights are very bright at the high end) - "DIY" - a feature that lets you set custom colors and start automatic fading from one color to another - "Music Mode" - the lights dance to your music - "Color Mode" - lets you choose from 8 pre-set colors with buttons or 16 million different colors with a color wheel or a slider control - "Scenes" - lets you choose from 7 pre-set "scenes" such as "Romantic", "Candlelight". Or "light simulations" such as "Sunrise" and "Sunset" But I think the best feature of all is the great support that's built in to the "Govee Home" app. After enjoying my lights for 5-6 months I did have one small issue and instead of dealing with phone calls, chat lines, emails, etc. I reported the issue right on the "My Profile" page of the app. To my surprise, I received a response in the app in less than a day. Continuing to communicate with the Govee Tech Support people through the app, the issue was quickly resolved. I've posted some pictures so you can see how some of the colors look. These are low-quality photos - the lights look much better in real life - but you can see the fun you can have with color! Buy Govee products with confidence - you'll get great quality with great support! Who could ask for anything more?

These lights are phenomenal. I’ve had them over the course of three different moves over four to five years and they have stood the test of time. The lights are still the colors that they’re supposed to be. They’re very bright. They work well in even the daytime. I use them as replacements for house lights that might be too bright because these are dimmable. Very sturdy. Great product overall.

I was mostly persuaded into buying these because of the advertised ability to use these with just my voice alone using my Echo Dot. After making an account and downloading the Govee Home app, I proceeded to link the device with my Echo using the Alexa app. When trying to link my account with the app I kept seeing "Cannot link your account at this time. Try again later". When I tried to discover devices using my echo it didn't find anything either. Yet it paired to my phone just fine with the Govee Home app. I went back onto the alexa app still wondering why it wouldn't be discovered and then saw that somehow it connected by itself, so that took all the frustration away and I was able to use my lights even without my phone. The commands are very basic though and you really must pay attention to what you name the device. For example, "the bedroom lights" is different from "bedroom lights". The commands I know of are "Alexa, bedroom lights; red" (or whatever basic color you want other than violet) "Alexa, light 10%" (or whatever brightness you want them at) and "Alexa, lights on/off" of course. During installation one of the strips adhesive backing came off while peeling it slightly but I was able to fix it by separating it off the discarded backing. Grateful the adapter came with two of the plugs so I could use both strips off one plug. The music mode is a great feature too although it does pick up noises that aren't there in complete silence sometimes. You have to use bluetooth on the app if you want to use the DIY mode or use music mode via your phone instead of the button on the stationary remote, but it's not too much of a hassle as all you have to do is click bluetooth and use the app. No need to pair it repeatedly before you do it. There's also a timer function in the app but I haven't used that due to my shifting sleep schedule. Overall, these are great lights. I got them when they were on sale for 50% off I believe. Definitely better than my old ones.

They are great lights! Especially how your phone can change the colors, it's convenient and great. They stick really well, they're bright and they were easy to put up. These are all great things, if you are planning on having them up the rest of the time that room is in use. I had to remove mine to repaint my room recently. When I took them down they destroyed the walls, some of the tape from the back of the lights stayed on the wall, and the tape that did come off had a 50/50 chance of taking some of the wall with it. Glad that I am repainting my room, but now it is going to need some extra spackle. I don't know how to rate the adhesion, I guess it is great because it never fell, but was a pain to get off.

I want to first mention the amazing customer service Govee has. I purchased these at a flash sale over the summer and did not install them until I had completed a room project early fall months later. I have many of the same brand lights throughout my home as they work great with Alexa and add a real ambiance to any room. These lights took me a few months to open as I brought them on sale for and intended project which I did not start until the early fall. Once installed I could not get them to power on. I have 5 other sets of lights same brand and never had and issue installing them. I reached out to customer service via there web site because it was past the time to return them on Amazon. Not only was the process easy the company replaced them, sent damn near overnight and actually followed up to make sure I received them and they were working properly. If anyone is thinking about which lights to get or how well they work etc. look no more!!! This company knows how to treat their customers. Even when I had and issue with one of the lights not connecting to my WIFI the tech support offered resolved my problem within hours of sending and email. Thank you Govee support team I wont think twice about buying another product from this company.

So far an excellent product and a fraction of the cost of Phillips Hue which I normally use. Phillips Hue would have cost over $200 and a LOT of headache with all the extra crap I'd have to buy to make it suit my purpose. I wish these lights were a bit brighter, but it's sufficient for what I intend to use them for. I got these for a light up sign I'm building as a Christmas gift for my gf (I'll update with pictures after Christmas). When I hooked them up to test them, they worked flawlessly. Relatively easy to connect to the internet and almost as easy to connect to my Google Home. These were the 2nd set of wifi lights I tried. I highly discouraged anyone from wasting money on Hedynshine wifi lights. (Absolute garbage). The Govee lights have strong, secure 4-pin connectors that snap in place. They came with adhesive brackets to mount the lightstrip but I won't be using those with this project. Like I said, a great product I highly recommend.

BUY ASAP! These lights are AWESOME!! 2 LED Strip lights 2.5 m 1 control box 1 Adapter 2 packages of 5 clips each. 2 alcohol wipes 1 usermanual Adapter- 12V 3A Color - RGB Can control with control box, Alexa, and App. Preferably, app and Alexa. First let's start with shipping, super fast to my AE address, and in perfect condition! I got two stripes eqaulling 2.5m/ 32. 8 inches long. Strips are thin and small with a thin 3M sticky adhesive material. Easy to install by peeling off the adhesive cover strip. Also came with two alcohol wipes to cleanse the areas from dust for better adhesive. Further, came with additional protective clips to help hold the lights in place! These however need to be screwed into the wall so a very small phillips screwdriver is needed. The app is easy to use and fun! Just download the Govee Home App, and sign up using email and creating a password. Once created there is a + sign top right corner of app for adding your device. Then it will connect via bluetooth, and by rentering your wifi password. And boom you're in and ready to have a light fiasco! Super easy! I also just added Grovee to my Alexa account, super easy! Definitely, buying more! Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine!

I am certainly not any kind of aficionado as far as LED light strips are concerned, but these are awesome! My boys got a set for their room, and we liked it so much my daughter had to get a set for her room. They were super easy to install, I helped each of them and it probably took us a half hour tops each set. The lights are beautiful and bright, the dimming function is awesome so they can use it as a night light. The app works great as far as controlling them! I obviously can't comment on longevity at this point, but they seem to be a high quality that I feel will last. Would like to add a note to this review. Of the two sets that we bought, one set started showing a defect where some of the LEDs were not lighting up the right color. I went straight to Govee, I got an email response within a day, and I have a new box on the way. So customer service is great, too!
