Hildewintera hybrid 'AMETHYST' has a small, 2"-3" diameter bloom with cerise inner petals, a burnt orange midstripe, and outer petals of burnt orange with cerise-edged petals. Growth is cylindrical with 1-1/2" diameter stems, and golden colored spines. Adaptable to basket growth, as stems become pendant once they reach 2ft+ in length. Hildewintera hybrids tend to be larger in stem growth than most Chamaecereus. In spring and summer, Chamaecereus take regular fertilizer and watering the same as Echinopsis. Easy to grow even indoors, as long as they get a few hours of bright light each day. Chamaecereus pup easily, and form a compact mass over time with blooms produced on each stem. In winter, they become semi-dormant and require little water; growing very slowly and often getting a reddish stem growth. Hybridized by Haugg, and is also called "Haugg's Amethyst."
