Even though the FDA doesn’t approve this. It works miracles on my sores, cuts and even stretch marks. Everyone needs to have this in the medicine and ointment mix

falsely advertised petroleum containing product
Ingredients wool fat, petrolatum, water. While suitable to some situations anyone up to date on skin care in the past 10-15years or many with sensitivities knows the negatives petroleum products can have on skin and overall health for the majority of situations and people. There is currently a complete lack of ingredients list or even mention of other ingredients to warn anyone like myself who needs or prefers to avoid petroleum based products. The listing only goes on about wool fat and lanolin when that is not what it is.The first problem is that even if we ignore the environmental impact there is also the high risk of contamination during refining that proved in several studies to increase odds of skin cancer when using petrolatum products. The EU requires the full refining history to be disclosed and the product proven to no longer contain any carcinogens but the US and Canada has no such requirements. It leaves you to guess at the quality of a company's products when they provide little to no information such as this listing. Even if you feel confident in the quality petrolatum can be more damaging than helpful to skin in many situations and there are better options now than when petrolatum was a popular solution.Petrolatum may protect from harsh weather and had it's purpose in the past with higher fat diets and lots of outdoor work or a simple lack of better options for skin barriers against friction or chemicals but it is far more suited to maintaining healthy skin than fixing it. If your skin starts healthy and moisturized enough before applying then petrolatum can protect from external damage. Many people these days are looking for products to make up for the lack of fatty acids and moisturizing nutrients in standard diets that contributes to dry skin and damage that starts on the inside instead of coming from the outside. Most others are already suffering external damage from dry indoor air and activities or cleaners that lead to dry skin. If that is the case then you need a good moisturizer like pure lanolin or other quality moisturizing oils to repair it and possibly something to prevent fungal or bacterial infection before sealing it away or it often will remain damaged beneath the covering layer.Lanolin absorbs slowly into the skin providing protection while also moisturizing and helping it heal. It is also somewhat antifungal and antibacterial. It naturally disappears from the skin surface over time even without cleaning it off. The result is both short term and long term benefits to skin quality or minor damage including cuts through the skin layer with generally the only negative risk being occasional allergic reactions to some products that aren't refined as much. Mixed with a better softening ingredient to improve it's ability to spread on the skin like coconut oil that is also antifungal and antibacterial or other light oils that also help remove dead skin and unclog pores it makes a very good treatment for many skin problems while providing temporary protection from exposure to dry air, harsh outdoor conditions, or drying cleaning agents.Petroleum based products will actually reduce moisture reaching the skin without supplying enough itself and it never fully absorbs or breaks down. What does absorb is a health risk anyway. This constant barrier with no other useful properties risks increasing any existing damage by preventing the spread of natural skin oils, blocking external sources of moisture or attempts to apply other useful ingredients, and preventing effective use of any antibacterial products. It can prevent the healing of scraped and cut skin and increase the risk of infection if skin is not properly treated prior to applying it. It will help protect from friction caused rashes but may even help a fungal or bacterial caused rash spread instead of reducing it.The lanolin may or may not help counteract the petrolatum but it's still more often a negative addition for most of the advertised purposes and at best only dilutes the benefits of lanolin. The petrolatum may also block some benefits of the lanolin if it prevents some of it from directly interacting with the skin.It certainly only makes my skin worse and increases the odds of rashes compared to when I use pure lanolin, pure coconut oil, or lanolin thinned with argan oil for easier application. I also take several supplements that improve skin health and was preventing those rashes even when I used nothing on my skin until I applied this product to the areas.Skin has also been proven to need to breathe both for benefits to the skin itself, prevention of fungal infections, and to the body as a whole. There are many examples where covering too much skin in excessively sealing ingredients has led to both local and even systemic health issues. Something like this should only be used on limited surface areas and the skin should be given a break with air exposure to avoid issues with keeping skin constantly sealed. Heavy barrier products also seal in dead skin cells and dirt resulting in a build up and bacteria feeding on it that can cause various skin conditions, ingrown hairs, acne, and other infections. The skin needs thoroughly cleaned daily to remove the petrolatum and everything it is keeping trapped while also killing bacteria and yeast or fungi. Lanolin by itself does not have these problems.A product with petrolatum is better suited to already healthy, undamaged, not overly dry skin, with no risk of fungal infection and prior to exposing it to external conditions that would cause damage. It also has increased risks of complications for those with sensitive skin including allergies to petrolatum instead of being of greater benefit for them when compared to the large number of other stronger moisturizers that are milder when it comes to skin reactions or fully hypoallergenic options. Advertising as a lanolin product for sensitive or dry skin does not match the generally ideal uses for this product or meet most peoples' expectations for such a product.
