Linux compatible (with one current known issue)
I purchased this tablet because it has good compatibility with Linux. Linux hardware support is mainly determined by the kernel version and other components of the "hardware stack". This tablet seems to be fully supported back to kernel version 3.13. I have tested the following versions of 64-bit Ubuntu on a combination of real hardware and Virtualbox:"Trusty" and "Utopic" hardware stacks (kernel versions 3.13 and 3.16) found in 12.04.5, 14.04.1 and 14.04.2 - All pen and touch functions work although the buttons on the tablet are not programmable from the GUI (there may be a way to configure them with a script but I didn't try that)"Wily" hardware stack (kernel version 4.2) found in 15.10 - as above, but the buttons on the tablet can be programmed with the GUI"Vivid" hardware stack (kernel version 3.19) found in 14.04.3 - unfortunately there seems to be a bug that is preventing the tablet from being recognised. My understanding is that the "Medium" sized version of this tablet should behave in the same way. The pen only version should also be basically compatible - the CTL-480(S) series.I also believe that, currently - November 2015 - the replacement Wacom tablets - the 490 series - are not supported by Linux without applying "development grade" kernel patches etc.(not something most people will want to do).I would expect that Linux versions derived from these "base" Ubuntu versions will have the same compatibility. It is also highly probable that non-Ubuntu Linux versions with post 3.13 kernels could be made to work if the appropriate additional packages are installed.Oh, it also works fine on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit!

Touch gestures are a real letdown
I bought this as an "upgrade" to a previous Wacom bamboo tablet.I thought touch gestures would be a great addition to this little tablet, which I use for photo retouching.Often with actions mapped to both the pen buttons, and the extra 4 control pad buttons there's not enough left over for zoom and panning.Unfortunately the gestures are really hit and miss.It takes a lot of practice to get the pinch zooming to work, and had to turn off the rotation as the pinch would result in rotating too.Panning isn't smooth, it' behaves more like a set of controls that are mapped to keyboard actions rather than smooth mouse movements.I prefer my old Wacom bamboo tablet, without the touch gestures.

Some products you just can say posh and perfect as you touch them
Some products you just can say posh and perfect as you touch them, it's a that kind of thing. We were in doubt about pressure sensitivity as it says lower than other non brand but we found that sensitivity is well measured and adjusted perfectly with human hands to draw something and it works better on Photoshop. The few things are, it's 4 buttons are not closely placed which we could use with one hand. If you keep pen in one hand press one button in one hand you need a third hand to reach a button place on another side. We also found that touch gesture doesn't work with Zbrush and Maya, working with Pixologic and Autodesk could add some new plugins or apps to sort out this issues.Still it's best now we can get,so no star was taken off but we hope Wacom will consider the issues we raised here.

Good but a bit small
I bought this with some trepidation as I have had two Wacom Bamboo tablets in the past, both of which expired after a few months. However, after asking various photographers I know I was consistently told that Wacom tablets are the best, so I gave them another go. So far this one has worked well. My only complaint is that it is really quite small, smaller than the Bamboo models I have had previously, but given my past negative experiences with the brand I did not want to risk spending more money on a larger model at this point. Next time I will get a bigger one.

Good stuff
Awesome kit, I have a cintiq, so wanted something smaller to save me connecting up the big boy for smaller work/doodling. My only gripe is the drivers /program is a bit buggy, needing a couple of reinstalls, and having to restart the Wacom service in control panel to remove the lag which happens every so often, I use windows 8... Which is more than likely the issue. For the kit and usability it gets 5 stars. Good pressure range and I got used to the small area quickly, the ability to turn the touch pad on and off is awesome for me ( as I rarely use it), I opted for the wired version, I don't think I'd upgrade to wireless as the USB cable isn't restrictive in the slightest, so not an issue.I'd recomend for people looking for affordable tablets on the smaller side... My next purchase is definitely the pro

I absolutely love this tablet
I absolutely love this tablet. It's just the right size to be portable and still convenient to use. My only issue was the length of the cord itself (which appears to be more convenient if you are using a laptop, instead of a desktop computer), but this can be resolved by either using a USB extender or purchasing the kit that enables the tablet to become wireless. After using it for several weeks now I am really happy I also purchased this version (pen and touch) over the other (pen), as the touch sensitive function of the tablet makes it really easy and nice to use, quickly zoom in and out on a canvas or rotate the image.

Great device. I only use it every few weeks or so, mainly for architecture diagrams or fine-tuning screen mockups, but it is massively easier to use than a mouse.I'm old enough to remember when Wacom tablets went for hundreds of pounds at their cheapest and some of their products were in the thousands. Admittedly, these would be far larger and specialist tablets than this but, for the casual user, this is a great product at a great price.
