It came flat. Not sewn up. It’s a flat piece. There are no threads in the plastic trim.

Good replacement alternative but some cons
Our armrest cover in our 2014 Avalon eventually broke down from years of use and needed to be replaced. I tried several I found on line but they didnt fit well. This one does fit well however, the color was noticeable different than original. This one has more of a burgundy tint to the brown than ours did. Looks Ok but not a perfect color match. Plus, the original had a thin foam backing that this one does not. While there is cushion on the arm rest panel, that extra thin layer under the cover helped provide a better feel - especially on the sides. With care, you can take the old one apart and remove the staples and install this one. You really need an air stapler with a protruding nose to get into the tight areas and to have enough power for 1/4" staples to go into the hard plastic. A manual or electric stapler just doesnt have enough power to penetrate the plastic. Once installed, it looked reasonably good other than the color. Toyota doesnt offer it so when they get bad, this is a better than nothing choice.

Nice but not we what I wanted
Good material however it didn't match my car and called for you to replace you old one. I was just lookin for a cover.. returned item but have not received a refund or Amazon credit.
