Great for reference
Spiral bound guitar book arrived on time as promised. As reference book for guitar chords, it's quite convenient to use for all levels of guitar expertise. It also provides alternatives to play a certain chord. It's easy to follow and to use. Using the tabs near the edge of the page, chords are arranged from A to G & "other chords". Obviously, the guitar greenhorn needs to learn a few basic chords first, and this book builds on those skills. Although the first edition was published in 2006, guitar chords don't really change, unlike other fields of study, so it's relevant today as it was years ago. I deducted 1 star because the back cover arrived crumpled, and I like to keep my books pristine. This book is supposed to be brand new. The person who packed the box was not careful. I still recommend this guitar book as a quick reference. It's faster to use this than look up chords individually on the web.

Beautifully Organized, Lies Flat and Perfectly Sized Book!
I am 66 years old and am retiring at the end of the year. I decided to return to playing guitar, which I dabbled in as a teenager. I bought myself a Martin LXK2 guitar right here. ( Beautiful 3/4 sized instrument made of HPL with beautiful tone and projection. No humidity worries and a sustainable product as it's made of recycled materials. See my review) It was $280 well spent. I opened the bag, tuned the guitar and to my delight, my aging brain had retained chord after chord: G, C, C7, D, A, A7, E all came back along with the string names E, A, D, G, B, E! Determined to build on this antique knowledge, I searched for a convenient chord book, and see that the reviews I read did not lead me astray. This book is arranged by key and colored at the right margin of the page so they can easily be found by flexing the book upwards . There is one chord per page and they are easy to find. The spiral "lay flat" binding allows for ease of use while you have your instrument in your lap. Definitely a wise purchase!

Great chord book to learn the basic chords.
For the longest time I have "messed around" with my guitar. I bought a book on Jazz guitar chords many years ago and found that those fingerings were way above my skill level. I decided to get a basic chord book to reinitiate myself. This is that book. Going through these pages has re-ignited my lust to learn more about playing my guitar. One chord at a time. Simple. Skip to another key just as simple. Actually, I haven't realized how many chords I really know how to play. I just need to learn the name of those chords. This book will help with that too. Give it a try.

Useful, nice big diagrams.
This is a thick little book with nice big chord diagrams and shows chords in various positions. I like that it is spiral bound. The only thing missing is tabs for the letter sections so that you an easily flip to the letter note/chord you're searching for rather than having to turn a lot of pages to get to what you want. I plan to put in my own divider tabs.

Best guitar chord book I've come across.
I've given this guitar chord book away as a gift and purchased one for myself. I love the spiral bound binding and I'm sure all but the best guitar players will not run out of chords to learn in this little book. I highly recommend this book to learn guitar chords. It's not a book that teaches you how to play a guitar. It is mostly chords but this is a crucial part of learning to play, right?

Decent book for beginners
Very good for the beginner. Only has 20 chord qualities for each key in the main text (altered dominants are in the "other chords" chapter). Qualities include major, minor, maj7, m7, sus4, 7sus4, 6, m6, 7, and 9 all in 2 positions. Then 5 (power chord), 6add9, 11, 13, add9, m9, maj9, +, o7, and o (dim triad) all in 1st position. The book itself is nice. Spiral bound and color pages. The paper could be better quality for what you're paying for it. But the pictures are very easy to see and understand. They have the fingerings and the scale degrees labeled with each corresponding note. What it doesn't have is a lot of variety. Only one position for most of the chord qualities and no 1-3-5 triads in any position. For what it says, it does it. It's just not for the intermediate guitarist wanting the more fundamental approach.

A PLAYER'S LITTLE HELPER
This is the perfect reference for guitar players, from novice to professional. Well organized and visually clear, in particular for folks with poor sight. Highly portable and a pleasure to keep near by for quick checks while you play.

Easy to use with big spiral binding and big illustrations.
Over the years, I have had several different books of chords. I like this one the best. The big spiral binding makes it lay flat and easy to use, and the chords inside are big in size and easy to see and read. When I practice, I keep this manual with me for a quick reference. This is a good buy and a good thing to have for any guitarist.

Wonderful!
This is a great book which obviously allows the reader to find many arpeggios for themselves as well as the many chords. To me it and the book that comes after it (Advanced Guitar Chords) are staple requirements for the chords that I like to find. I have not found a better chord repository in book form (which I much prefer) anywhere and I don't expect to either. The diagrams are perfect, the best that I have ever seen. It would be impossible for me to make any complaints against these books, they are simply brilliant. I am not the author, I do not know the author, the publishers or any other body which could sway me into giving these books any thing other than absolute top marks.

pretty good, but not perfect (a complete, honest, review)
Okay so I just want to say that I'm not a beginner to guitar, I think this book would serve beginners incredibly well and even just people who don't know their fretboard very well. The book is easy to use, a good size for carrying in a backpack and a great little thing to carry round. Its easy to read and understand, it tells you how to read the diagrams at the beginning if you dont already know how to and its a book that could really help you if you're just starting your guitar exploration. This review is harsh, but in no way is it a bad book. However as an intermediate player looking to become more of an advanced guitarist, I must say that this book isn't everything I thought it was. I bought this book expecting to find 4 voicings for every chord but it simply doesn't. The problem that I have is that for me, this book is just showing you the same chord shapes over and over, but on a different root note (hence why I think this is a great book for beginners or people who need to study their fretboard). Unfortunately, this book only shows 2 chord shapes for every basic chord, and then as the chords get more complex, we only see one chord shape per chord which kind of bums me out a bit. I was looking to expand my knowledge of chord shapes and this book did that to a degree, but not as much as I was hoping. My second problem with this book is that It doesn't tell you directly which intervals are which. It tells you the notes of the chord and what the corrolating interval is, however it leaves it up to you to figure out which note is which in the actual chord shape. Some people may see this as a good thing as it kind of makes you think about your fretboard and figure it out on your own, but with me already knowing how the fretboard works, personally I find it a bit of an inconvinience.Overall, if you're within your first 2 or so years of guitar playing and don't know much about chords, then this book is probably going to change your life and become your best friend from here on out. If you've studied a bit of music theory, then this book will still aid you and probably help you snap to your chords a bit quicker and aid your understanding of the fretboard. But if you already know multiple voicings of most chords and are looking to expand that knowledge further, then maybe this isn't the book for you.Ive heard they do an advanced version of this book which may suit my needs better, but have yet to check it out.

Really useful little book.
Easy to find chord layouts as helpful reminders. Like the fact it's a ring binder so easy to lay flat. Small enough to have alongside music but large enough to easily read.

If you need a chord book this is the one!
Wow I bought this book to refer to when I needed to be reminded of a chord, but instead I've found myself pretty much reading the book before I got to sleep!Just everything about this book is perfect.-The smartly coloured pictures are huge and cover a chord a page.-Each chord is easy to find-The directions to where each finger should be placed are easily understood.-Spiral bound = Simplicity!-All the chords you'll ever need with the more complex ones at the end-Small enough to fit near enough anywhereHonestly if you want a chord book this is the one. I find it useful being by my side when learning a new song through tabs, very easy to quickly remind yourself of many chords.

Easy to use
Bought this for my son as he's beginning to learn guitar....I already play but thought he could use a handy book to keep about to pick up chords here and there when he gets chance. It's easy to use and clearly printed...as to the easy to carry?? pffft....not really....it's small but clumsy...a little heavy for him but he does like using it.I was expecting a thinner book and a lot lighter...Other than that it's a good book for the price...Based on my experience I would recommend this product. Thank you :O)
