Great for its price...but I only paid $5.
I bought this game for my brother who's gotten into the LOTR and Hobbit series. I figured that the game was for 10 and up and it was on sale so I couldn't pass up the offer. All in all, it IS actually a fun game. The individual tasks set in the game are simple, and easy to remember, especially with the hint board. The character pieces are absolutely cool looking and the tokens and "grit" are all well designed and look amazing, especially the land tiles. However, the instruction manual is a joke. As the other guy said before, the instructions are confusing, poorly written, and overly complicated for a game designed for kids. Needless to say, when my brother and I play the game, we have several house rules attached. Also, we've yet to actually use the cards since they add a layer of depth to the game, I'm sure, but complication when explaining the game to a kid.So, would I recommend this game? Actually, yes I would. I wouldn't pay the full price, I'd definitely recommend getting this game when it's discounted. Even so, if you can get past the horrible instruction manual, and get to the main game, it's a pretty solid game. I'd recommend as you play keep the manual and the cheat sheet in front of you as you learn the game. Once you have the basic turns memorized, slowly take away all the extra rules and whatnot until you have just the game itself. I'd also hold off on the cards until you actually (think you) know what you're doing.I would ask other people who've bought this game if they've played this game with more than two people, how was it? Better, worse, or about the same?

Well worth $10
At present moment while I write this review Dwarven Dig! is $10 and change on Amazon. If it's still below $15 I say buy it. I will admit that the rulebook is abysmal and feels as though it is a rough draft that wasn't proofread but the basic idea is translated well enough for you to get the concept and fix any flaws with your own logic and house rules. The use of grit in this game actually makes the bad luck of a failed die roll fun and the sparkling silver grit stones are really nice looking tokens that you could use in other games if you wished. The game components are nice and it does come with 24 mini figure dwarves. There is enough here in concept and content to make it well worth $15 or less. Buy and try.

Could be great with some house rules.
This game while interesting is not the most fun.PROS:If you like Dwarves you'll LOVE the theme! The exploration and hazards are unique and keep the game interesting.Well balanced mechanics.Nice artwork.Quality components. You could make your own single player variant more focused on exploration.CONS:If you don't like being harassed by every other player whenever you have the slightest advantage then you may not have much fun.The mechanics allow players to do a shock-wave to anywhere on the board no matter what every single turn, so if you're playing with 6 people then all 5 can gang up on whoever is in the lead.

Meh
I was expecting much more from this game. This one missed the mark for me. The theme and art are really good. The game itself is "fun" but it takes way longer than it should, and there are a lot of games that can do what it does much better. Most of my friends play it once, and that is enough for them. The middle of the game is great for everyone, where the teams start meeting up, and all the clashes occur. The first 1/3 of getting there is uneventful, and by the final 1/3, most people are just ready for the game to end. If this game just consisted of that middle section, it would be a hit and we'd be playing it all the time. As it stands now, I'm just disappointed that all the great components didn't lead to something better. And so, it is on my trade list.

First review
This is my first review of a game but given the fact that it only has 2 at the moment and they both are poor I felt I should set the record strait. This is a great game, the instructions may be a bit complicated at first glance but once you read them its really not hard at all. The gameplay is pretty simple and you get instruction cards that tell you what you can do each round and spreadsheets of all the crap you would have to look into the book to remember(which really isn't much). Its easy to read and well made. For the current price of $11 its a steal. Even at 40 its still a fun game. I hope you enjoy it as I did.

Dwarven Digging Improved!
Love this game. Loved the original version and this release makes it even better. Several issues in the first release are addressed. Some shoddy proofreading in the rules, but a dedicated gamer won't let that stop the enjoyment of the game.

Dig It!
Just played this game with my daughter. She loved it and so did I. We had a great time with the rules and the experience was great to have for the small cost of the game. Tiles and miniatures are well made and the game overall at my home witll be a hit, I'm sure. Thursday night game group, beware! lol

Rules are incoherently written
Bought this and immediately returned it. Between everyone in our gaming group we own several hundred tabletop games. This is by FAR the WORST WRITTEN RULE BOOK EVER!Complete trash. Calls the same facet of the game several different things, and doesn't even mention other facets of the game. No card descriptions or explication of cards.Just terrible.
