A great sequel--looking forward to the next!
I loved Prelude to Mayhem and am happy to report that I also very much enjoyed Static Mayhem. In this updated version (2017), readers follow Harrison as he and the new country struggles to find its way in a post- apocalyptic world. The kinds of problems they face are believable, which I appreciated. This may be science fiction/fantasy/dystopian, but the humans are still very much human, making the same kind of awful choices humans sometimes do. Of course, there aren’t just humans in this world, and I adored the pixies and fairies and other non-humans in the story, too, to include a totally awesome sword. The relationships overall ring true, and I like that Harrison is an imperfect hero. Some big things happen to him in this book. I missed Dorothy’s point of view, but I understand that future books return to her POV as well, so I’m happy about that. I read this book in just a couple of days—definitely a page turner, with lots of humor and touching moments sprinkled throughout. I definitely look forward to the next books in this series. (Note: I did not read the original edition of Static Mayhem. I’ve only read the editions of Prelude to Mayhem and Static Mayhem published by Curiosity Quills.)

Yes it has magic, but don't let that stop you!
Let me say first, if I had known there would be "magic" in the storyline, I most likely would have passed on this book. That said, I'm glad it didn't say so in the product description as I was very pleased with this read. I've always been a fan of post-apocalyptic/parallel universe fiction mainly for the reason I enjoy visiting places similar to our own but with obvious differences. Either of those genres have characters based in a world that has met some type of major disaster (EOTWAWKI) or on a world in a parallel dimension, this fulfilled my taste quite well. The magic was a nice change since I haven't read any books with magic in them since I was in my teens (and that was a LONG time ago) and it fits in well with the story. Basically it was a nice blend and I didn't overload on pixes, spells, etc. It's worth the time to read and you won't regret the purchase!

A New Genre?
Rarely do we see Sci-Fi and Fantasy genres combined in one novel but that's exactly what Aubry has done with "Static Mayhem". This is a refreshing take on your standard post-apocalyptic dystopian story that initially reads like sci-fi but is clearly a fantasy novel complete with Pixies. dragons. magic etc. but don't let that put you off. Keep reading because this is an engaging story that most sci-fi fans will enjoy even if they (like me) aren't fans of fantasy novels. This a ride worth taking and you'll marvel at how the author has managed to weave both technology and magic into a coherent story line and a great read. Enjoy!

Love, love, love this book!
I was a little worried about the magic aspect of the book but the story drew me in immediately and I couldn't put it down! I'm a scifi and post apocalyptic book fan and loved the entire tale. I fell in love with Glimmer and Harrison and while reading the book. I kept checking the progress status on my iPad because I just didn't want it to end! Fantastic story, wonderful characters and not too much magic that it was silly or too much like a kids book. I can't wait to hear more from this author...and I am going back to read this one again. I rank this right up there with some of my favorites of all time like Lord Valentines Castle. Thank you for two deeply engrossing evenings!

Very enjoyable and original
This story is unlike any other I've read. The lead character is not a superhero; he's an ordinary man plunged into an extraordinary situation. He becomes a hero in spite of his self-doubts. I think the solution to the world's problem with war is brilliant. I'm sure everyone has fantasized at least once about finding a way to abolish weapons of mass slaughter. The mixed bag of characters seem to really care for one another and there was enough excitement and intrigue to keep one glued to the pages. I'm looking forward to seeing his next book. The only thing reservation I have with this writer, along with most of the NY Times bestselling authors, is that the word "like" is not a synonym for "as if".

Stylish Pixie
I always enjoy EOWAWKI stories, so I downloaded this book to my Kindle.I've read the other reviews here, and I just want to say, one, I loved it, and two, I don't know the author, never met him, guy is a total stranger to me. Static Mayhem won't be everyone's genre, granted, but Iam really impressed with his imagination. I've tried writing some short stories myself, so the time and work it must have taken to create this world, and these scenarios, I salute you Mr. Aubry. The hero, Harrison Cody, will probably drive you somewhat crazy, but I loved the pixie, Glimmer, and actually enjoyed reading about her wardrobe changes. It was a sweet touch. If you want deep, serious reading, you'll have to buy something else, but if you want a book which will take you to a totally different world, and keep you interested throughout, I think you'll enjoy this one. I did. And I'll be there if and when there is a sequel.

Awesome!
I rarely read fantasy or post-apocalyptic novels, but _Static Mayhem_ was surprisingly awesome. I love the idea of magic, pixies and dragons. This book makes the reader think about reality, time, love and alternate universes. It has wonderful plot twists and is really a page turner. I stayed up late last night to finish reading it because I couldn't wait to find out the ending! I would also recommend _Unhappenings_ by this author.
