these are good tubes for my phono stage.

I can't compare these to other tubes because I got them for a Crate V1512 I picked up for cheap recently. The amp sounded pretty good I thought, but had the original tubes from 2001 in it. I ordered these and a pair of EXH EL84s and these arrived first. After throwing in the pre amp tubes it was like a completely different amp. Way more gain and significantly louder. Definitely an upgrade over the 19 year old groove tubes that were in there.

Tungsol preamp tubes breathed new life into my Peavey Windsor. Really tightened things up!

Smooth sound

Along with a matched set of Tung Sol EL84's I am rocking again. Not the traditional GT's but still Russian work horses with low noise and very sweet to my ears.

Not much to add other than the title. I didn't play the amp enough to get this in the return window but I started noticing a drop in gain and popping. I ended up putting the old tubes back in and everything worked perfectly. I opened the amp up and took each of the three tubes and put them in the V1 position. One tube worked perfectly, a second had no gain and was very quite, the third produced no sound at all. I repeated the test and duplicated it exactly. 66% fail rate, totally unacceptable.
