I've Used It For Over 30 Years...
...and I can't say that about many books! This is an outstanding, insightful book about the most important hours of your business life. I have bought multiple copies, starting with the first edition in 1976 or so and continuing to the current one.I have to thank Dr. Fred Gruenberger, a notable figure in the computing history of the 1950s and early 1960s, for giving me perhaps the single best one class session I have ever taken: an evening on interviewing technique. In a night class during the early 1970s, he assembled a huge effort for the time, including a TV studio video recorder (this was before the VCR was invented!) and a psychology professor to serve as the interviewer. Three people were selected as subjects, and I was selected as one of the three due to being a real employed programmer at the time. Interviews were then played back and critiqued. The techniques from this one night's class literally gained me tens of thousands of dollars in faster hiring and better opportunities over my career. I didn't realize it at the time, but I am forever in his debt.Fast forward a few years, and I happened to pick up the first edition of Sweaty Palms: The Neglected Art Of Being Interviewed, by H. Anthony Medley, a lawyer then practicing in Marina Del Rey. Even though I'd had the benefit of then-unparalleled interview training, this book constantly presented me with situations I'd seen before, but then explained what I hadn't realized about each of the situations. If you are job hunting, this book can be invaluable. If you are not job hunting, this book can still be invaluable...interviews are not just about employment. Highly recommended for both young and old job seekers. I got this book for my daughter when she began her job search after graduating UCLA, and the techniques are still effective thirty years later. Highly recommended.I would also like to respond to one of the criticisms in other reviews. I don't believe I've ever sent a thank-you note for any interview, and I do not believe it has hurt. In retrospect, it may have been useful in the 1960s and 1970s, less so today. I would say it may be useful if you are applying for a position where there are unstated selection criteria involving socioeconomic class. As someone else pointed out, if one is interviewed by a woman who seems to observe the social graces, it may be the right thing to do. It also may be appropriate for a sales position. You have to use your own judgement to decide this, not send a letter just because some other book said so.Personally, in my experience as a hiring manager, I don't believe I've ever hired anyone who sent me a thank-you note. But enough! This book will repay your effort in reading it many times over. If you are unemployed and low on funds, get it from the library. If you are employed, buy it for your personal development. I cannot recommend Sweaty Palms enough. Good luck!

Practical and Valuable Insight into the Interview Process
I've recommended this book for years. The author provides many very valuable insights. Makes a strong case for knowing yourself and being prepared. Practical and thought provoking. Although the book was last published 10 years ago, the content continues to be relevant for the most part. The author challenges you to make up your own mind about what actions you will take.It was written for a broad range of readers so some content may not not relate to the reader. Also, good bulleted review at end of each chapter.

Very good book...
If you are going to have an interview...any interview, this is a very good book to read.I purchased it as a gift for a young friend who was about yo get her interview of a lifetime. She read this book and used it's principles and she got the job! Now, I will purchase this book, as a gift for anyone I know about to have their "big" interview.

GREAT BOOK. MUST HAVE FOR JOB HUNTERS. I GIVE TO ALL JOB HUNTERS.
this is a MUST have and MUST use for job hunters. it may have an older (ha) date but the style of getting a job has not changed. I give this to all of my job hunting friends. I cannot count how many people I have interviewed in my career. Employers might want to take a gander at this book too. it would help with a more effective interview. GREAT BOOK!

Outdated, poorly formatted, and full of bad advice
I found this book utterly useless, in a few ways.1. As an ebook, there are no chapters and it is full of formatting issues.2. It was written almost forty years ago and feels dated.3. He spends way too much time badmouthing other books on interviewing, as if the fact that he interviewed people for his real estate business in the 1970s makes him more of an expert than anyone else in the world.4. Much of the advice here (at least in the 20% of the book I managed to read) is actively bad. For example, he recommends asking about whether you'll have to work overtime and other questions like that, which is not a good way to position yourself for a job you want. Then he scoffs at softer questions like asking what tools for collaboration are available. He thinks this is the stupidest question in the world, when in fact many interviewers will eat that up, because it shows that you are looking to do the best job possible. In short, save your money.

Incredible Book
My aunt recommended this book to me when I was having a hard time landing a job. She said she read it when she was looking. Not only does it help you with interviews but it helps you work on yourself. I do suggest that you read it in anticipation of looking for a job as it is very in depth and you may find areas of yourself that need to be worked on.

As an HR professional, this book is definitely going ...
As an HR professional, this book is definitely going to be a gift for all college grads from now on. But also, as an adult that hadn't been on the other side of the table in many years - this book was dead on and helped remind of many things I had forgotten over the years.

"No more" Sweaty Palms! Great Book!!
This is the ultimate book in knowing everything there is to know about interviewing, and more! I highly recommend this book, it was recommended to me by my brother who has read this book over and over again throughout the years, whenever he finds himself interviewing again, and it works!!!!
