Great sharpener
I was a bit skeptical about this type of sharpener because I have always sharpened my pocket knives on a whetstone. Am I glad I decided to buy the DMT Aligner Prokit. It sharpens so much quicker than my whetstone kit. I had some old Kitchen knives that were very dull but this sharpener brought them back to sharper than new. My newer set of Kitchen knives were also sharper than new. Especially after using my Beavercraft strop which is also a great product. Once you figure out the best position or on longer knives positions and find the proper angle it is very easy to get a...Not going to use the old cliche "Sharp as a razor"...but as sharp as a kitchen knife should be to hold an edge. It also makes it easy to re-profile a knife. I put a sharper angle on an old meat cleaver and now use it to dice vegetables so i can scoop them off the cutting board to put in pan/bowl. Highly recommended for people that haven't sharpened knives before.

Very Nice Sharpener
This is a very nice sharpener set. Very easy to use, and you get a hair shaving edge with supplied stones. I ordered three extra stones, Extra Extra Coarse, Extra Coarse, and Extra Extra Fine to make sharpening old blades easier, and not wear down the other stones. They are easy to replace if broken, but a little expensive ~$17 per stone. If you have curved blades (ie. Kershaw Blur), you will need to get the ceramic stone (hard to find) to sharpen, it has a beveled edge. Other than that it is perfect on packet knives to chef knives to fillet knives. I love it.

Nice kit works well
This worked great on medium to larger knives. Little getting used to but makes setting a consistent angle pretty fool proof.

Knife holder is crap but the diamond stone works great.
The stones do a great job when I use them on my old landsky aluminum blade holder. The holder that it comes with is plastic and it bends to much and your unable to get a consistent angle for a sharp edge.

Pretty good.
Stones are great, and I have nothing bad to say about them. I ordered the XX coarse for re-beveling; it's a beast, and can grind metal away at an alarming rate. The coarse is good when you've got chips in the edge and need a little extra bite, but I usually only use the fine and then the X fine for sharpening. I can get a nice hazy mirror finish before hitting the strop just with this kit.Better for medium sized blades rather than the biggest/smallest knives. I have problems sharpening my Old Timer pen knife and my Opinel number 6 because the blades are so thin that the guide rod hits the clamp on the 17 degree angle. Also has trouble with chef's knives over 5 or 6 inches simply because of physics, which is a design limitation more than a flaw.Another issue is a shared problem with most guided systems that clamp the blade: Full flat grind blades like the Tenacious or Opinels will not seat properly, and will sharpen unevenly without some extra attention. I solved this somewhat by using some duct tape on the clamped area and paying extra close attention to the blade's position while I'm sharpening.Other than the above issues, it's been a great system. I'm able to get a shaving edge every time, on almost any of my medium sized knives. It isn't idiot proof, though, so be warned that you'll still have to have some understanding of what you're trying to do (build up a burr, then fold it over). Works best on knives with a wider blade and a squared off spine.

Simple to use and good results for sharpening
I have more sharpeners and stones then I know what to do with, so I added one more. Why? Because the others either took off steel with carbide and then ceramic; carbide alone; used oil or water but required some prep time (soaking); or were cumbersome to use. This DMT kit is self-contained in a small footprint with three available stones (more available) and the angles are adjustable by you. That means repeatability and precision with each sharpening. That also means quick sharpening each time. This is just the ticket for those of us with lots of sharp instruments in the kitchen and tool boxes. I hate a dull knife and now have no excuses.

Very Good Sharpening Kit
It was a satisfying experience using the Prokit while sharpening my knives. Great results! I watched their instructional video (available on Youtube) that made the basics of knife sharpening interesting and educational. The stones fit on the tool perfectly and the knife clamp holds the steel securely. This is a great kit for a reasonable price.

This is a great product and makes things simple for those who do not know how to sharpen knives or this will be the first time learning how to sharpen a knife. I myself had no experience sharpening knives. Now I have all my work and kitchen knives super sharp. Maybe a bit too sharp because I cut myself at work with my Leatherman and didn't even know it until I had seen blood on the items that I was handling.
