The women of Pijao is an association of 19 women farmers from the town of Pijao in Quindio, Colombia. The association was formed in 2010 after a meeting in the nearby capital city of Armenia with the Colombian Coffee Federation. Several women farmers from Pijao were present in the meeting and voiced their concern to the Federation of the lack of support for the women, many of whom are single mothers, raising children and running their farms. The women of Pijao have come together, with the support of local government, and opened a women run coffee shop in the small town, which has allowed the ladies to roast and sell their roasted coffee at the coffee shop.
