Installed trouble-free on 2 Windows Machines, and works.
When burning some CDs and DVDs to send my wifes' MRI and X-Rays to the Doctor, I realised that I no longer had the computer with a LightScribe labeling drive. This one came today and I installed it trouble-free on both an HP Windows 7 Pro machine and a Compaq Windows XP Pro machine. For some reason it seems a little faster burning data on the Windows XP Pro machine than the Windows 7 Pro machine. I found the HP LightScribe software on a software archive site and used it. Yes, if you have a stack of LightScribe Discs, I highly recommend this drive.

It works fine so far. I'm happy so far
It works well. Seems fairly solid but I've only had it a couple of months. Will try to get back and review in 6 - 8 months after purchase date.

Ease of use
Compact, very portable and plug/play detection in a timely manner. Purchased specifically to have DVD and litescribe writing capabilities between multiple PC platforms and laptops as needed. Cables could be longer to allow contralateral placement of drive

Not plug and play. It is not recognized by my Windows 10 PC.
Connected to my Windows 10 PC, the drive will not be recognized by the computer. Is not plug and play or something is wrong with the drive. Instructions with the drive are incomplete and confusing. There appears to be an additional USB power cord in the packaging. No information provided in the instructions if and when it is needed. Generally, the connection to USP port in the computer would power such a small device. Tried with and without the additional external power connected (had to provide my own USB AC transformer) with no luck on the drive being recognized. It would be MOST useful if the drive came with Lightscribe software! (assuming the drive worked) I would certainly pay extra for that. The USB 3 cable is way too short the only possible configuration that could work would be for the drive to sit on top of the computer.

Instructions would have been nice
Make sure you connect both cables. One is data and one is power, although USB can supply power. The short cable is very short so you may have to perch the thing awkwardly.

Sort-of-works but not reliable
For a DVD burner that's nowhere near the cheapest on the market, the lack of reliability was shocking. It worked most of the time with DVD+/-R single-layer disks, but failed sometimes -- even failed to recognize a new disk, at times. It failed most of the time with DVD+R dual-layer disks, but worked sometimes. Not much better, in overall measure than DVD burners available for half the price. I see lightscribe as a hype and of no value, whatsoever.

Value for money :)
Used this several times already with my macbook pro 2018 laptop. I love it!!! Portability wise it is light and able to fit in my backpack easily. It just works :)
