Quality Product (not made in China)
It took a lot of effort to find a simple wall clock that was not made in China. Perhaps a little costly, but it is well made and looks good on the wall.

Silent!
This appears to be very high quality, and it is silent!

Just a beautifully made product
have always loved these clocks since back when I would travel to Switzerland frequently for business. We needed to replace an $8 ikea clock, again, putting it in landfill, again, and I decided to just 'go for it' and get a grown-up clock. This thing is solid, with a nice thick glass front, a rock-steady sweep second hand, crisp printing... and on and on. I love it. It's worth the price for that. My kids and grandkids will as well.

Nice clock, keeps accurate time.
I was worried about this item based on the reviews I read. However, after owning it for a month, I have to say I'm very pleased with it. Stylish and well made, it keeps accurate time. It doesn't function like "real" Swiss railway clocks, but I suspect something that does would be monstrously expensive.

Disappointing quality
NOT a Swiss Rail clock, just looks like one. Key word above is "design." I bought this for my husband as a gift on his first Father's Day. His family is Swiss and we love our experiences with their legendary rail system. As a focal piece to our newly-remodeled kitchen and a nod to his style and craftsmanship, I thought this would look excellent above the door. Well, I ordered it late and had to settle for a printed version until the package arrived (which it did on time). He loved the gift and was so excited that he said, "finally, a clock that's more solid than just a black square box with a battery on the back!" you know what I mean... standard clock back. Well, then you can imagine our collective disappointment to discover exactly the poor quality we thought we were avoiding. The face/case is made in China and the clock mechanism (cheap, square, black box) components are made in Germany, neither of which is a problem unless you're expecting the real movement of the Swiss rail clock. Here is a link to what the swiss rail clocks look like in motion:[...] The second-hand does not 'tick,' but sweeps through the minute, pausing only at the sixty-second mark -- takes some real clock innards to make that happen. Bottom line: I wouldn't pay more than $25 for the clock sold here (and most of that is just because it looks cool).

If design is what you want . . .
The Mondaine wall clock is attractive, somewhat sturdy feeling and basically true to the look of the ubiquitous clocks in Swiss railway stations - - a very appealing and nostalgic evocation for those with pleasant memories of Swiss train trips. Having had it a month, it also seems to be accurate. The fairly high price reflects the brand name and design, not particularly the overall quality, which is decent but not overwhelming. The metal case is nice, but is "Made in China." The small plastic-encased movement is advertised on Amazon as "Swiss," but it is not - - a serious misrepresentation for a timepiece. Rather, it is "Made in Germany" - - at least not China. The second hand would be truer-to-the-original if it didn't jerk between the seconds with the red disk shaking a bit at each tick. So, I like the look a lot but don't think its quality really measures up to the implied image.

Wonderful, iconic, expensive
Looks wonderful in our new modern kitchen. Reminds us of trips to Europe when we look at it. So far, exactly what we wanted and no problems. Expensive clock for what it is, but you are paying for this iconic design.

Best time accuracy
I have had this clock for a few months and it keep the best time of any of the wall clocks I have. It has gained about 5 seconds per month. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the bouncing second hand. I bought a BrAun wall clock about the same time and t has gained about 1 min/ month, which is typical of the wall clocks I have bought. Nice looking clock however it arrived with a bent second hand that stopped on the min hand. I think it got dropped. The red knob at the end of the second hand is heavy. I took it apart and straighten it out. Now the second hand clears the min hand but it bounces back and forth each second it stops.
