You get what you pay for
I bought this item to digitise archived cassettes. It arrived without the software and USB the description implied was included. The instructions are not clear or detailed on some points, e.g. still can't know if the machine is on automatic or manual. Very obvious extra machine noise and artefacts when digitising through the USB so had to digitise using the headphone out into my computer (analog). Difficult to find correct volume when digitising, trial and error. Speed can vary. Two digitisations of the same cassette can vary in length and tone. Apart from that it works but you will need to spend quite some time finding the best configuration for your needs.

Beware Music Lovers!
I ordered this cassette to mp3 player for one reason only - to transfer all my treasured music from cassettes to mp3 files, so I could make room. I'm a singer/songwriter by trade, so it's important to me that what I'm listening to is well.... listenable. During playback of what I recorded the hissing was so loud it was practically unlistenable for me. It sounded like I was listening to an old AM station that was just out of range. Lots of noise - I would say at least 30% overall, as compare to what I actually recorded. My unit also played the tape at various speeds, producing a dragging effect, even with fresh batteries - which is not acceptable at all! If you're just a novice music listener, and sound quality doesn't really mean all that much to you, then this would be a great buy. On paper it looks great with all of it's features and attractive look. But when you actually have to use it, it's a disappointment for anyone that is serious about their music. But otherwise, spend a little more and buy something that reflects the quality you demand for listening to your musical treasures.

Just what I needed.
Very easy to use. No pc is needed. Just insert a USB drive, pop in a cassette and press 2 buttons.I've been after one of these for ages. I'm a musician and wanted to digitise some early recordings of some bands I've worked with.It had no problem converting the tapes, 3 of which are a quarter of a century old.....(not kidding)I recommend using an audio editor to clean up the digital tracks(I use Audacity, it's awesome, and FREE) because what you get is a "warts and all" mp3. IE, it sounds like the tape.

Good and bad news....
It's been nearly forty years since I heard the cassettes I'm transferring to MP3, and all the tapes are of my band in Queens, NY...I've spent the last four hours tracking down my band mates to get together again!

I like sturdiness a product and that a products works as advertised
I do believe that this product did not work as advertised. Also, the product was cheaply made.

It worked... I was able to convert a cassette tape to a digital format.
It worked... I was able to convert a cassette tape to a digital format, and the process was pretty straightforward. Getting it to a clean stage, with proper spacing between songs without static, required additional software and time. On the whole, though, it was a cost effective way to get the job done.
