Oxford Handbook of General Practice (Oxford Medical Handbooks)

Invaluable
Do not even think as a Gp Reg of going on a home visit without this book in your bag. At all other times keep it just outside your room for the 'I'm just going to check on the new guidelines' blag that means you need to look in a text book but don't want the patient to se you doing so.Also excellent are the internet links supplied at the ends of each topic.Buy it.

excellent - bible!!!
If you are working in general practice or district nursing or as a modern matron/case manager in long term conditions this is a superb text, easy to dip in and out of (though it would be nice if it had bigger print - for old 'uns like me anyway).Useful web sites, lots of stuff to jog old memories, fits in bag or pocket all in all wouldn't be without it.

Useful
If your a trainee its worth buying for AKT revision alone.as with the oxford handbook its excellent value for money but if your expecting something along the lines of the clinical medicine then you are mistaken.

Worth it's weight in gold.
I had one of the first editions of the Oxford Handbook in my pristine new white coat when I started life as a nervous houseman about a hundred years ago. These days, when I find myself having to do lots of general practice-ish stuff (which is a bit of a shock, as I'm a psychiatrist), the General Practice version of the Oxford Handbook is a life-saver, like it's daddy years before.

Great book, holds your hand through a consultation!
Great value, nice and easy to use, everything clearly laid out in a logical and structured way. It's allowed me as a medical student to get through a few GP consultations quite smoothly and enabled me to present back to the doctor with reasonable confidence.I definitely recommend this as a resource for a medical student, especially in your clinical years.

since buying this I often refer to this in practice as a quick guide before, during or after the consultation

Good series, OK book
Big fan of Oxford Handbook series. This General practice book is OK, very similar content to the cinical medicine book. Also becomes out of date rapidly, and is not up to date with all the recent NICE guidelines
