Seems VERY accurate!
I have very limited experience metal detecting, but me & my niece have taken this out and dug a few holes and what has impressed us is the absolute accuracy of the unit and without fail it has targeted tiny bits of trashy objects and so the depth has been spot on every time. Very small bits of metal at 8" at 10" and even the type & size displays seem quite accurate.Out of the box you can just get ground balance and kick down the discrimination and figure it out. So you figure out the ways you want to try and use it and watch some videos and go.Things i dislike are it seems to default to basic settings every time you turn it off/on and frankly the settings navigation is not better by eliminating control buttons. So i guess it depends how inclined you are to learning a device that has far more capability than a garden variety starter model.Everything is just a trade off of ease of use and level of capability. So this is not exactly a starter model and the cost reflects that and yet it performs like models costing much more than it. So if you are working within a smaller budget this is not going to be your choice.Bottom line for me was that this is a very capable and popular proven model that has some very good features and has the detail of control to take the hobby to a more serious level or if you are going to try and use it in a more urban setting it has some built in ability to operate with some EM interference so that is a plus for some people, besides if you try venturing out who knows what you may encounter. If you are looking at spending what this goes for i can say after much research this won out for me and yes i opted to buy rain protection for display & box and for me that's fine as i am not going waist deep in water and If you need your detector end to end water proof this is not the choice for you. Ease of use well that is debatable. If you are looking to just have a basic detector that has the ability to take you out relic hunting you would be hard pressed finding a better choice as long as learning to use the settings is not a deal breaker for you it is a VERY capable & well rounded detector. It comes down to what you find important as i can think of a half dozen detectors in the $500-800 price range that are good choices and this just happens to be the one i went with.Happy hunting!

Love it
Only thing I would have liked is water proof for the price. I have used a garret and this, I will take this over it for the features and just seems to have better tone and control. It's kind of tough for a 1st time user but after a few months it's been great!

Great for all levels of experience: 100 hrs and many relics later...
My T2 first detector malfunctioned, but I bought another locally and it works great. It hits targets hard yet is sensitive enough for small coins to stand out.I would recommend reading the manual 5 times, looking up T2 detector settings online, AND about 25 hours of use before being fully 'synced' with this machine. There are many settings which makes the T2 very versitile, but also simple modes that make it great for beginners. I do not see many limits for this machine even for very advanced users. The stock coil works very well over a variety of conditions. Although it looks like it could have been built better, the coil appears to be tough enough for field conditions. The LCD is easy to read in varying sunlight conditions but I really wish for $850 that a backlight could have been part of the design. I would also say to definately get a screen cover since it looks like any moisture would get right into the button gaps and kill the detector. The detector itself is well balanced and doesn't cause arm fatigue. The shaft length is adjustible as well as the arm grip so it feels secure. The weight is great and such that a whole day can be spent detecting before fatigue is an issue.I have found many great, old, and valuable relics with this machine including coins from 1802 on, civil war relics, and a few colonial buttons and shoe buckle. I believe this machine will take enthusiasts where they want to go .

Deep Detector!
Read the manual a few times over, and even take it with you when you first start using this detector. It may take a few times out with this unit to learn the settings, but once you do it's very easy to set up. With boost mode, this detector goes deep.

Not user friendly.
Difficult equipment to learn to use. Came well recommended but just to difficult to use. I Returned it.

Damaged machine.
Detector had a fried screen and had to send back. Overall built quality is very poor compared to other manufacturers such as Minelab or Garrett.

The Best!
This is my third T-2! I live in an old mining town covered with square nails so the smaller coil is great for areas with a higher density of trashy signals. The 11" coil smokes the other detectors, and I can find relics after someone has already gone over the spot. Although I don't sell my treasures, these detectors pay for themselves in a short time.

This thing is amazing, wish it read further down than 16 inches ...
This thing is amazing, wish it read further down than 16 inches seeing that I've found many things with it at 40 to 60". But by far the best I've used.
