What is it? The Smarter Stand for iPad consists of 2 sleek, cleverly designed plastic clips meant to be used as an add-on enhancement for your existing Apple Smart Cover or Smart Case. These genius little clips add a whole array of new possibilities, positions, and angles that can be achieved when using your Smart Cover as a stand for your iPad. It's a very simple product, but you'll be amazed at the added functionality it provides. How do they work? The 2 discreet clips simply slide onto either side of your Smart Cover and can be repositioned to any point on the edge of the cover. Simply slide them over one of the folds in your cover, and suddenly the fold is reinforced so it can no longer bend. Essentially, this gives you the ability to choose where your Smart Cover bends and where it doesn't. The easiest way to see what this does for you is to check out the pictures, where you can see a variety of different positions that were previously impossible to achieve with the Smart Cover alone. Very simply, having the ability to block the folding points immensely increases the functionality of the Smart Cover. What's wrong with the Smart Cover as it is? While it is certainly one of the best iPad accessories, it's very limited as an iPad stand. As a stand, the Smart Cover offers 2 positions: really low or really upright - there is no in-between. Add the Smarter Stand, and suddenly you have the ability to achieve the angle YOU want without needing any other bulky stand accessories. What else is included? The Smarter Stand also comes with a sleek non-slip pad that can be attached to the bottom of your iPad, preventing the iPad from "slipping out" on smooth surfaces and making your Smart Cover stand all that much more secure and functional. Compatibility: Designed for the iPad 2, 3, and 4 smart covers. May have limited function with the iPad Air, and iPad mini.

Great things come in small packages
This one GREAT simple idea. I ordered them right before a trip to Europe and using my iPad on the planes became ever so much easier. The little non-slip edge pad combined with the clips completely replaces the iPad stand I had been using previously. I simply haven't used the stand at all since I got these little clips. So convenient since they stay with the iPad all the time and there's no need to pack or carry a stand. They are simple, compact and never get in the way. They don't add any weight to the iPad either. Best iPad accessory I've purchased! They work on my Mini and my Full-size iPad. For travel it's these great clips and my Mophie Duo juice pack. Go on, get 'em. Highly recommended.

Great product
The Smarter Stand works great on the iPad. I bought it from the original Kickstarter project and liked it so much that I ordered another set. The clips are small and unobtrusive and allow you to create more reading angles than the basic Smart Cover allows. The clips are thin enough that the iPad will go into sleep mode when the cover is closed. Highly recommended.UPDATE: I still believe that the Smarter Stand is great for iPad models before the new iPad Air. It doesn't work as well on the newer model since Apple's Smart Cover for the iPad Air is narrower and has only three folding sections vs four sections for previous models. Still a great product for older iPad versions.

Works great for Gen3 iPad cover but not very durable
Works great on Apple iPad cover for "New" iPad (Gen 3) but not very durable and lasts only about 6 months before the plastic starts to tear (I have already gone through 6 of these). Fortunately, its inexpensive enough to still be of value. Does not function as well for newer iPads due to the smaller dimensions of the iPad Air and the change in the location of the Apple cover folds.

I'm impressed!
I was a part of the Smarter Stand Kickstarter project in about 2012 and I've been using these clips on my iPad 3rd gen ever since. As soon as I took delivery on my iPad Pro with its Smart Cover, I knew I had to buy another Smarter Stand. I don't know why Apple hasn't incorporated these clever clips with their cover. I'd be lost without them.

I love the idea, but . . .
I have an Apple clone case and it simply did not work as my case is apparently not as stiff as an Apple case. While it didn't work for me, I gave 5 stars for customer service. The company was quick to respond and we exchanged several emails to determine just why the cover was collapsing instead of being supported as it should with the clips. Before ordering, make sure you have the original Apple cover and I think you'll like it..

Inexpensive way to extend the capability of a Smart Cover or smart case.
These simple plastic slides allow me to put my Smart Cover into new positions that are very helpful when reading in bed - I can prop my ipad up on my chest, for example. It works very well, and is out of my way when I don't need them. They add no bulk or weight, and you don't need the stickers if you use the Smart Cover, since the back of the cover provides enough friction in my experience to hold the ipad in the desired configuration.

I love this product, it works perfect. I have been using my Blue Smarter Stand for years. I can't imagine using my iPad without it.I just bought a new clear set to use with my new gold iPad cover.This is a great product people!!

The perfect solution!
Simple, lightweight, versatile solution for iPad and iPad mini stand position challenges. I bought 3 sets in clear, using them on iPads and iPad mini. Terrific! (I do recommend filing down the "inner teeth" to minimize impressions on the iPad cover/case.)

Great gadget works well
Really useful as they make the stand more adaptable whilst not getting in the way when you don't need them as they just stay clipped to the cover
