Why is UVB Needed? Reptiles seem dependent upon skin-manufactured Vitamin D3, and cannot use D3 contained in the food that they eat. Therefore, vitamin supplements will not meet their needs. Rather, these reptiles must bask in the sun or under UVB-emitting bulbs. Reptiles need Vitamin D3 in order to absorb and use Calcium. Without adequate supplies of both nutrients, a condition commonly known as Metabolic Bone Disease will develop. Afflicted animals pull Calcium from their bones and replace it with fibrous tissue, and in the process suffer growth deformities and difficulties in locomotion and feeding.CONOMOYPET UVB Light reptile bulb provides professional technology for caring the health of all reptile and amphibian.LONG SERVICE LIFE – Intelligent chip ensures incoming steady current to better protect circuit board, 365 days to use(each day for 6 – 8 hours). It's a basking bulb not a warming bulb.
Shipping was VERY fast and the packaging was protecting the light bulb well. The reason for the 3 stars was that the packaging online states warming. When the bulb arrived the packaging stated basking bulb. I needed a low watt bulb to help just a bit with keeping the crested geckos cage warm during the winter months as recommended by the breeder. A warming bulb and a basking bulb are 2 different kinds of bulbs. The packaging is misleading.

Cool light not too bright to be annoying as some can be
Great lights for the price lizards are happy, warm and only bad part bought two only one works. I had a bulb mess up as it was turned on the lightbulb instantly started making a odd sound and died I almost thought it was going to explode by the reaction of sounds with light stopping as it did

Save your money
I'd like to leave ZERO stars. But I can't. I put the first bulb into a brand new ZooMed fixture and it snaps and pops like Rice Krispies. I'll be throwing both bulbs in the trash.

Didn’t work
Plugs it in, and it didn’t work. Not worth the hassle to drive to a ups place to send it back though

Wish the bulb lasted longer.
After wasting electricity for a long time it's great to see a good lightbulb save some power.

These lights don’t work!
These lights are terrible. I have purchased two of these lights and one did not even turn on, and the other looked like this. I returned them and got two new ones and they again looked like the picture above and didn’t work! Very dissatisfied.

Good Alternative to halogen lamps
Works very well. No problems so far. I have it on a dimmer switch. I wanted an option that was safer than using a halogen lamp which are more prone to cause fires and dissipate excess heat.

Great bulb
Using this bulb for uvb b rays for my chameleon has been great. His obsorbtion of calcium has covered him from a calcium deficient diet.
