A feel good Christmas movie!! Have a lot of Kleenex!!
I remember listening to the song many times, but never watched the movie. I have always wanted to see this movie, but things would always happen where I would forget about it. Well I heard the song on the radio not too long ago, and it made me remember the movie. So now that I have it, I am going to watch it for the first time. All my friends say it is a really good movie. My buddies say I will need kleenex. We guys are man enough to admit that we cry at some movies. What's another tear or two!! My buddies were right. Make sure you have plenty of kleenex!!!

An Amazing Story With a Powerful Message
I was prepared for the tragic feeling of the movie, since it was based off the country song "The Christmas Shoes" which tells the tale of a little boy who wishes to purchase a special pair of shoes for his mother to visit Jesus in.What I wasn't prepared for was the amazing acting skills of those that starred in the movie, and the creative storytelling that was used to turn this song into a story. The little boys is a skilled and powerful actor who had us believing from start to finish that this was sincerely happening to him. A rarity in child acting. The story was a sad one, and doesn't end the way that the world would probably wish it to end, however my entire family enjoyed the tears and it brought us closer. It also sent the message loud and clear that family is the most important thing, and while maybe a small town, sappy tear-jerker isn't everyone's favorite type, it sure was ours.We long to live in a beautiful small town just as it appeared in the movie, and were thankful for the gift we received by learning a powerful message in the end.We borrowed the movie from the library and watched it twice. We loved it so much we purchased it brand new (not used) from Amazon today.

Real Life Values
The Christmas Shoes comapares and contrasts the lifestyles and values of two familes-the one higher society and the other blue-collar middle class. The rich have an impetuous desire to become richer and increasingly affluet. The irony of such pursuit is that the values that are pursued become more elusive and lost to those who seek them. On the other hand, a life of contentment leaves more room for harmony and family fellowship and ultimately the enjoyment of life. When the middle class family is faced with the untimely death of the mother, there is togetherness and love as a product of a together lifestyle. The young son is willing to do everything he can to please his dying mother and, with hard-earned money, sacrificially buys her dancing shoes she may need in heaven. The more affluent family, on the other hand, lacks family cohesiveness since the bread-winner is a workaholic which brings conflict and frustration. The Christmas Shoes brings out the need to slow down and enjoy life in the process, since life is not a future goal but a present reality. Relationsghips are more important than material goods. Even money cannot be a substitute for enjoying a short and fleeting life.Very well done.

Briliant
I thoroughly enjoyed this Christmas film with the warm determined heart of a child highlighting the story, which I think is based on a true story. The story has an unusual beginning and an unusual, but not too surprising ending, but both are gratifying and understanding to the viewer. The story is great as are the actors and pathos which will move your heart. I have no doubt it will. For Believers a treat to sit back and enjoy no swearing, blaspheming, no indecency a beautiful film you will want to pass on to all your friends and neighbors and also a good pass on film to a person who doesn't believe in God. A five star film for sure. Well done the producers.

Have the tissues handy.
There were lots of 'Christmassy' films to choose from and I plumped for just 3 and the reason I chose this one after I'd read what it was about was simply because Rob Lowe was in it and I haven't seen him in a bad film yet. Anyway, 2 storys run parallel to each other and soon become entwined. Rob Lowe plays a lawyer who works, works and works some more and his family and marriage of course suffer as he never seems to see his wife or daughter especially at school events. His wife is played by a very attractive Maria del Mar. The 'other' story concerns a garage owner who spends time with his family and his wife a school teacher, (Kimberley Williams) is found to be suffering from a heart problem. His young son portrayed by Max Morrow is told by his mother she is ill and he sets about buying her the perfect Christmas gift. Morrow gives a heart-rending performance but the glitter has to go to Kimberley Williams whose stellar acting will make you grab the tissues. There are a few ups and downs and the only thing that was out of place was the last scenes to do with Rob Lowe where he meets Nathan Andrews (Morrow) in the cemetery.

A beautiful story, but get out your kleenex box
I loved this movie, and the song. At first, I listened to the song then watchedthe film on YouTube. It's so emotional when Maggie's telling Nathan she's going to Heaven, and the wayshe tells it you have to hold back tears. The most heartwarming scene is when Robert overcomes being self centered at thestore when Nathan doesn't have enough money for the dancing shoes and says his momwill be going to Heaven. And when Robert pays for the shoes and goes to the housewhere the kids, Dalton and Kate are all singing, he realizes you can't take people for granted like he did with his mother. And it's just a wonderful Christmas movie, except for Maggie's failing heart. And sometimes, it does take a miracle for us to realize how precious life is.

Christmas Shoes
I first saw this movie a few years ago, I loved it but it also broke my heart. It is the story of a family, a mum, a dad and a son.The mum is dying and the little lad wants to buy his mum something special, he see's a pair of dancing shoes that he wants to buy for her as he wants her to look beautiful for when the time comes for her to meet Jesus. So he sets about earning the money to enable him to get these shoes to give to his mum before she pass'es away. This is a real tear jerker but a beautiful movie.Keep the tissues handy..you will probably need boxes of them! There is also a sequel to this movie, starring Neil Patrick Harris.,I seem to remember it is called Miracle of the Heart, that too, is a great movie. The music in the movie is also available.
