The more stubborn hair and larger bits of pebbles were not as easy to get up
I haven't tried to pick up liquid yet but this little vacuum does work. I never remembered to charge my old portable vacuum and I got fed up cleaning out the cloth part of the bin. Corded and no cloth were my criteria and so I bought this. I tried with the car running and off. I wouldn't say there was a significant increase in power while running but it picked up sand and dog hair both times. The more stubborn hair and larger bits of pebbles were not as easy to get up. I choose to shake out as much as possible and use this as a finishing touch. The dog hair, anyone with dog's that shed should realize that when it gets worked into the material, nothing short of tornado is going to pull it back out. Don't expect miracles. Grab a roll of duct tape and make a poor man's lint roller if you are that meticulous. I only really care about the sand and loose dirt because I don't want it to get muddy/caked in, or cut up my carpet. For the price and size, this little guy is a good buy in my opinion. I hope my harsh tone hasn't offended anyone. I just was not pleased with the unrealistic reviews I came across when I was trying to decide what product to buy myself.

Readivac 36104R 12-Volt Light Weight Wet & Dry Pickup Hand Vacuum
As many others mentioned, the suction isn't terribly strong on this item but it does a decent job, IMHO. I found you may have to go over an area several times plus sometimes apply a little bit of pressure to work some things loose so you can pick them up. The crevice attachment is quite short and has even less suction but it still managed to pick up stuff. I liked that it's so lightweight/easy to handle. The switch to turn it on stays on w/o you having to hold it. Plus, it's easy to empty. I also liked that the filter is washable/reusable and seemed to do a good job as I didn't notice any dirt being blown out of the exhaust vents. I didn't try picking up anything wet so can't speak to that. I also didn't try using it w/o my vehicle motor running since I wasn't sure how much it would drain the battery/didn't want to risk it so can't say if the performance is better or worse if the motor is on or off. Over all, I'm satisfied with my purchase or else I would have returned it for a refund.

Don't set your expectations too high for a vacuum under $20...
First of all, the thing costs under $20...so you should already expect the worst even before you get it. So let's talk about the good things...Pros-Cheap as in price.-Very lightweight.-Cord is of good length. I have a Honda Odyssey. I can vacuum from the the front to the back of the van so it's not a problem.-Has a cord!!! Some may find this to be a problem but have you ever tried to vacuum with a cordless vacuum? There's two problems that arises, these cordless vacs are not strong enough and they don't last long enough for you to vacuum for a good amount of time.-This is a WET & Dry vac. I havent tested the wet part but a pro nonetheless.CONS-It does feel cheap because it's so lightweight.-It's not strong enough to pick up big things. Normal dirt and sand and etc but dont expect anything bigger than that. Seriously though, what are the chances that you're going to vacuum something bigger than that anyway? If it's that big, pick it up with your hands and throw it out...right?

A Very Decent Vacuum to Leave in the Car
Everything about this vacuum is good: The lightness/portability, power/suction, the included extra accessories/tips......EXCEPT that the only power source is via the car charger chord. It does not have an internal power/battery system, so if you want to use this, you have to plug it to the car, and if you want to use it at home, then you need a car charger to house plug adapter, which is harder to find than the other way around. So get this if you want a portable vacuum you can just leave in the car. Also, since the chord is 15 feet long, you need to plan your maneuvers if you want to vacuum the trunk, etc. Some new cars have a car outlet in the trunk, but most do not.My car has one so it doesn't really affect me, but this vacuum gets one star knocked off for not having an internal power system.Still, at only 2 "Hamiltons," it can afford to be in its own little niche.

Even for cheap this is weak
To paraphrase a song, you get what you pay for, but I just had no intention of taking 4 hours to clean 1 square foot of space. This vacuum has NO POWER. If you put your hand against the opening, you cannot feel any airflow. It will pick up very fine dust, slowly. Wet-dry vac? No way. If there is a very small hair, it will probably lift it. If that hair is wet? Not so much. All I wanted to do was remove a LIGHT dusting of cat fur from a few boxes in a storage room. I even bought an adapter specially so I could use it in the house. I couldn't even finish one box top before having to clean it out because it couldn't move what little it picked up off of the fan area, so it "clogged", even though there was very little in it and there was air all around the few strands of hair that got hung up. I spent about 20 minutes trying to use it and managed to pick up maybe a quarter of a cup's worth of debris. Forget using the wand attachment. It won't do ANYTHING once you extend the suction tube.

No Use... doesn't do the job
I got this after reviewing lot of products, but I can't imagine how any company can sell something without checking that it does the job what it is supposed to. Imagine somebody selling walking stick but then the stick breaks as soon as use it as it cannot hold the weight of a normal guy..... same thing here.... it doesn't bother to pick any thing.... the suction power is so low that you can blow air more stronger with your mouth to clean the dust. I returned the unit and bought a Black & Decker CHV1510 Dustbuster 15.6-Volt Cordless Cyclonic Hand Vacuum for $45. See below for link, it was rated #1 by Amazon and super good reviews... will post my feedback once I get the device tomorrow.http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004412GTO/ref=pe_175190_21431760_M3T1_ST1_dp_1

Good enough for $20
I find this useful to leave in my car (remove sand and junk that would usually wait for my next car wash... typically once a year)

Its okay
I ordered this after reading the reviews and i knew from others that the suction is not the greatest and the suction is okay. Its not powerful. But what bother me the most was the vacuum motor busted on me after 6 weeks and i only used it three times!!!!!!

It will work and you will hear it
Had it for about a month. Works for me, good value for money.Suction is strong enough to pick up crumb-sized pieces of dirt. Easy to clean, long enough cord to use in the trunk of a midsize car from power outlet in the dash.Taking a star off for high-pitched whining noise. It started after about a minute of using it. Doesn't bother me personally, since I don't use it for long stretches of time.
