GoldenRod 18 inch Dehumidifier 3D-18

I bought this for use in a 4x2x1' wood gun cabinet. The 18" inch model is actually larger than what I needed, but I recommend getting the longest one you can fit against the back wall of your cabinet or safe (each length costs about the same). The rod either sits on the floor or can be mounted.My hygrometer showed a 10% drop in humidity when I started using this, even if it doesn't seem like it heats up the cabinet interior at all. The packaging on my hygrometer said 45-55% is ideal for gun storage, and my cabinet was already at about 32% with cups of silica gel beads, and the room at about 40%. You may want to check if you truly need this product or only run it during certain seasons.I removed my firearms with wood furniture to keep them from cracking and will keep the GR running. It will at least keep the silica from needing to be recharged for a longer time.Only four stars because it only dropped humidity by about 10%. May be due to the already dry conditions.

This size worked great in my safe. We are having our Dog Days here which means double 90's, 90 degrees and 90% wet air and the Golden Rod has kept the safe which is in the shop at around 50% humidity. Couldn't ask for more.

i purchased this product after reading the reviews. it is as advertised, warm to touch. made me leary of laying it on the floor of my safe. so far a month later no fire. safe is 36 gun safari from menards. temp stays 65 degrees with humidity around 25%. my finished basement is dry and i live in michigan. hope this helps. only time will tell if it helps keep guns from rusting.

I installed this in a case as a preventative action. I've used the moisture absorbing chemical and it seemed to work fine... the bag would fill up with water. However, this became inconvenient for my application and expensive.After installing the GoldenRod, it seems to be working fine. It warms the air slightly and the humidity does seem to be lower.Does just what I needed it to do.

Got here fast, not damaged works great. Do yourself a favor. put an extension cord in the safe to plug this in so you can unplug if you want to.

Went online trying to determine which dehumidifier best suited my new gun safe. Read all the Pros and Cons and went with the18" GoldenRod. It has only been a few days but works as advertised. Mounted it on an inner wall where most of the guns are andplugged it in. My safe has two 110 outlets on the inside so made it a simple install. Very happy will buy again.

Very easy to install, works great so far

it does get hot. when you open the safe after a long time of it being closed you can feel the temperature change.
