The plastic drain cover on my shower pan broke. I figured it might be a standard part so I went to my hardware store to buy a new metal cover. The Oatey metal cover sold at my store didn’t fit snug and was loose. Luckily there was a model number along the edge of my shower drain hole and I learned the shower pan is Swanstone. When the drain cover arrived it also said Oatey on it but it fit very snug. I compared it with the one from the store and the tabs are slightly further apart. It must be a custom size for Swantstone.

IThe original ivory plastic drain cover that came with the Swan shower floor pan whern we remodeled finally gave up - cracked in several places and would no longer stay in place. We liked the loks of the ivory drain cover on the ivory floor pan, but couldn't find an original cover anywhere. We finally settled on the stainless Swan cover, which seems well made - no sharp edges, no scratches, uniform shine on the stainless surface.However, while it fits firmly and nicely into the floor pan, it won't stay. After a couple days of showers, it works loose from the rubber grommet that is supposed to hold it in place. I suspect that several cycles of heating in the shower and cooling to room temp cause it to altenately expand and contract, and work loose from the drain.Also, the Ivory plastic cover always looked clean after a showe, but the stasinless cover is a magnet for soap film, especially from bar soap. After a single shower shower the drain cover looks as if it is wrapped in waxed paper. Next time I clean the think I will try waxing it with car paste wax and see if that helps, but for now it doesn't have the shine of stainless, and doesn't have the matte ivory of the floor pan - just looks like something that always needs cleaning.

Purchased to fit our Swanstone shower base. The plastic center floor drain cover that came with our base cracked in half after about 2 years of use. We've tried other universal covers but did not fit. Happy to find this metal option by the same brand. The fit is not necessarily snug and I worry my foot will catch the sharp edge at some point but hasn't happened yet. So far so good. Over time, it may settle a little better. Pops out easy enough to clean and catches hair, as it is intended. The design is okay. I like it just fine. Easy transaction. Easy to install. A little overpriced in my opinion but, if it lasts longer than 2 years, I'm happy and will purchase again without hesitation.

I ordered a new Swanstone stainless steel drain cover for my Swanstone SS-3448 shower pan(old plastic drain cover was cracked). The item cost $20.59. I DID see that Oatey made a similar item(42005) for $10.95. I decided to go with the Swanstone part, just in case it was a "special" fit. Well, I received an Oatey stainless steel drain cover instead of the Swanstone item I ordered. I paid nearly twice as much for an Oatey part. If you are going to buy the Swanstone drain cover, just get the Oatey one instead. It Does fit fine and looks and feels great, but don't be like me and fall for a little "bait and switch", just get the Oatey drain cover for $10 dollars less.

We have a Swanstone shower floor... this drain cover fits!! The prongs are a little be long... but generally this will work fine and a replacement for the plastic drain cover that came with the shower floor. I'm thinking of grinding down the length of the prongs... that would make it a snug fit

I have the Swan shower base model SF03248MD and the 4 1/4 universal drain covers at the store were not snug at all. This one fit much more like the original. It came with a white wrap on the top side that needed peeling off which made me think I got the wrong product at first.

The drain cover that came with the base had a problem seating flush. I went to the stores that sell them and they didn't have the right size. Amazon had an exact replacement, plus it was thinner and pressed right in without difficulty.

I AM GLAD THAT THIS IS POLISHED STAINLESS RATHER THAN CHROME. SHOULD HOLD UP BETTER THAN CHROME.
