Kenmore White 70912 Countertop Microwave, 0.9 cu. ft

The media could not be loaded.  My job is operating sophisticated machinery so this was not user error. I was heating water in a Pyrex measuring cup and smoke came pouring out the bottom. I read the other reviews and bought it anyway so it’s on me. I was just thinking they can’t all be bad and that they probably fixed the problem. Yeah no. I’m sad because I really liked it. Luckily it malfunctioned so quickly that the return was pretty easy. My advise if you’re going ahead with the purchase:Keep the box and packaging!Makes returning much easier. I ended up going to Lowe’s and getting a similar one for less money. (I’m keeping the box and packaging just in case!)

Have it for sometime already so a review is due here. Its fairly small but very well constructed. Especially if you dont have tons of space in the kitchen. I had a Kenmore microwave before and it lasted me years so I decided to stick to the brand. Let me just say it did not disappoint. I got a fair deal here on Amazon without bestbuy or sear representatives shoving unnecessary add ons. I received it the next day after purchase as I recall. I highly recommend this brand of microwaves and this one in particular if you want a decent size microwave.

Unboxed it, plugged it in oh, it made crackling and sparking noises. I reboxed it and returned it.

We are looking for a small black or stainless steel microwave to fit on a shelf and I thought this would fit. We had another one on there, but it was white and my wife didn't like it. So I searched all through Amazon and found this one, with a stated size of 14.3x20.3x12.8, with the depth being 12.8. In the Q&A section, "Kenmore Customer Service" replied that to questions (twice) stating that "The exterior depth of the Kenmore 70913 is 12.52". Nope. It says right on the box that the dimensions are 18.31x11.02x14.49, the depth being 14.49" (see my attached photo). Those dimensions are correct. See my other photo as to why this doesn't fit. The depth to the back is, indeed, 14.49". Now I have to return the thing. Very frustrating.

Bottom line: Not perfect, no frills, but still really good.It's small enough that it doesn't take up all your counter space but big enough for a normal dinner plate or 2 quart serving bowl. It would be ideal for use in a dorm room or RV, or anywhere that you want to save space.Considering that it is lower in wattage than the bigger microwaves, it still gets things heated/cooked completely very quickly.You can opt to hit the start button to warm or reheat something for 30 seconds or hit it twice for 60. Very convenient.There are 6 "auto cook" buttons which is nice. It would be much nicer if there was a more sensible choice of times for those. For instance, one is for 35 seconds, and since the start button already gives you 30 seconds, it's kind of redundant. And two of them are for 5 min which is most definitely redundant. It also would have been nice if they were assigned in any sort of order so that you don't have to try to remember the ones you don't use daily or try to read the tiny descriptions next to them.Steam does build up quickly so you will want to either wipe it out or keep the door open a bit after you use it to help it dry out.All in all, it's nice & compact, easy to use and a good value over all.

This microwave lasted barely a month before it randomly stopped working. I didn’t drop it, handle it roughly, or operate it incorrectly. I went to warm up a beverage and noticed the lights went out so I unplugged it and then plugged it back in and it doesn’t turn on. Can’t get in touch with any customer service representatives from Kenmore the phone just constantly rings. Not a product I’d recommend at all. You would literally be better off with a Hamilton beach brand microwave.

I bought this microwave to treat myself. My old microwave was beginning to act up so it was time for it to go. I liked this new one because it was a little smaller than the old one. So the increased counter space was nice to have. This new microwave was very easy to set up.Began using right away. I never was able to set the clock on the old one. Not a problem setting the clock or learning all the settings on the new one. I very much recommend this microwave. It gets the job done very well.

Item received fast shipping but disappointed that the door could not open. The hook looks like it is stuck. Never again.
