This is a wind chime , not a breeze chime. It needs rather strong wind , which it can handle without getting battered or tangled. I have put a larger wind sail on mine to make it chime in less wind. It produces different notes depending on where the ball strikes the inside of the tube. Beautiful deep sound , something between a gong and a bell. Super quality . Will last forever . This is a very heavy chunk of steel. Be very sure that you know how to hang heavy objects . You would not want this thing to fall on someone.

This is one of the coolest things I have ever bought through Amazon. I read so many reviews on other chimes that I kept upgrading my choice. Still, I worried this might not be as good as it looked. Then the extra large box arrived, very heavy, very exciting! It's very big, which is as I hoped. The sound is deep and resonant. I moved an older, smaller chime from this spot next to my back door. That one always caught a breeze so I figured it was a good chance for this large chime to also catch the breeze. And it does! It is so cool to hear it while I am cooking in the kitchen, a deep, calm sound that seems farther off than it is. I love the whole thing and am so relieved that it is as impressive and beautiful as it is. Looks like it will last multiple generations.

I have had these bells in smaller sizes. They have all held up well. This bell is very large and somewhat heavier than I expected. That is not a problem but it does require a sturdy hook to hold the weight. As previous bells, this one is very well made. The sounds it makes are pleasant and pure. When I first saw it I thought it might be too loud and annoy the neighbors. Fortunately, the sounds are deep and soft. It makes a subtle sound that won't annoy anyone. It has a truly beautiful pitch. It is a very attractive and well made bell.

Typically I'm not a huge fan of the woodstock brand of chimes but this is an exception! We love chimes and own several fairly expensive ones including Music of the Spheres (3 models), GraceNotes (3 models) and several miscellanous other hand-made chimes we've come across over the years. What we didn't own was a wind bell! A few days ago we happened to be at the local True Value and saw a slightly smaller version of this in person for substantially more (over 40 percent more than the currently listed price on Amazon). Impressed by the sound but not really liking the price, we decided to look it up on Amazon. Now, I like to buy local when possible but not for nearly 2x's the price for a smaller item! Ordered this - it arrived promptly without any damage. Looks GREAT. Sound is exceptionally nice and this is from someone that owns quite a few above average chimes! This compares head to head with Music of the Spheres or GraceNotes in sound quality. Of course, it is low and has minimal range since it's a single tube rather than multiple...however, what you will miss in the 'song' is more than made up for in uniqueness, resonance and beauty. This is fairly large - the estimated 40 inches INCLUDES the string, flag etc...the actual bell is substantially smaller but still quite heavy and visible. It will not get lost in the landscape and will require a fairly strong sized place to hang. Lovely sound - impressive quality and beautiful addition to patio, garden or even indoor area.

I have searched for a pleasant sounding low tone cylinder bell for a while. I love how easily this plays the beautiful tones. It is quite heavy and surprisingly large. So happy with my purchase. I will love this for years to come. FYI-you’ll need to tie your own knot. Just refer back to the Amazon instructions.

It sounds great when the wind blows. It works for us when the wind is 10 mph or more. We like the sound that it makes and it looks great too.

Before buying this chime I went on to YouTube to listen to its sound. Although I had some idea of what to expect, upon receiving this chime I was blown away by how well made it is. It is very heavy and will require a sturdy branch if you plan to hang it outside. This chime has a deep-throated sound reminiscent of a buoy marker. I gave 3 Stars as far as gifting because you will have to know the person you're gifting this to, this is not your typical tinkly wind chime that you hang near a window, this is large. Where I live in Florida we have plenty of breezes, especially when the hurricanes come through, and listening to those tubular type chime chiming all day and all night wasn't for me. This is a singular tone and its bonging is not as annoying. I guess someone reading this might say to themselves, then why buy a "chime" at all you moron, that's what chimes do, and you're absolutely right, it was my wife who made me buy it (throwing her under the bus). I almost never hear it and when I do, it gives this old salt pause for reflection. I highly recommend it, and by all means gift it, share the annoyance with someone you love or hate. lol

I wanted a deep melodic chime in my garden and this Heroic Bell produces a sound reminiscent of a shipping buoy far out in the deep ocean or a church bell far across the hills and valleys. I hung the bell high up in a tree, the branches and foliage of which protect it from strong sharp blasts of wind. As a result the chimes tend to be gentler, emitting a soft melodic sound giving this sense of distance. Visitors have remarked on it thinking a distant church bell was ringing. Perfect. The sound is almost haunting yet evocative and would complement any garden. The construction of the bell is robust, waterproof and I'm sure it will last many years. Well worth the cost if you value your garden chimes.

To me this sounds beautiful and so calming. I bought it as a housewarming gift for a relative but his wife thought it sounded like a 'death' bell and so she mounted it as far away from her daily life as possible on the back of her shed where no wind blows. Well, when I get around to stealing it back, at least she won't care. In my opinion though, this is a well made, beautiful sounding chime.
