Best sword and best seller EVER!
PhysCool is the best seller I have ever used. They answer all questions quickly, efficiently and are extremely informative. The quality of the sword is far superior to any I have ever had and tailor made to my height. It arrived in its case complete with beautiful tassel and cleaning cloth well packed and many weeks before expected. This seller does absolutely everything to please their customers and I have no hesitation in highly recommending them and their excellent products. I will certainly use them again

Good quality telescopic sword
I’ve been looking for a replacement telescopic Tai Chi sword for several years. This one is solid and look good. The balance point is good. The tassle could have been longer, but I can fix that. It took a while to arrive, but overall I’m happy with my purchase.

Is it genuine?
It is highly finished, feels right, and could be a good addition to actual martial arts combat.

Smooth, Cool and a very 21st Century Training Sword
In this video review I look at 3 retractable training swords and evaluate the best of each. Certainly the Physcool sword wins hands-down on pouches, tassels, hilts, smoothness and good modern looks. But is the extra price worth it? You'll have to watch the video - but one word of caution - stay off the cheapo swords, they fall apart.

Very smooth design
It arrived quickly and well packaged ! I wish the handle had a little grip to it. Hope I don't drop it ! I have only been taking Tia Chi classes a month. I decided to start weapons for more exercise. This is my 1st sword. Hope its worth the price. The blade cover clicks in place. When extending the blade pull it out to full extension. Less chance of it sliding back. It remains in place with tension. If I get good enough to spar I'll purchase a competition sword. This will do for now.

Great sword - excellent customer service!
***ANOTHER UPDATE*** - the seller did, indeed, send a replacement and it is much better! Sturdy, stays extended, and feels balanced. What a nice difference! Customer service is simply unbeatable!**UPDATE PENDING** The seller has been AMAZING in communication and understanding. They are shipping us out a replacement sword. We will see if this one is sturdier and less loose than what we have and will update the review accordingly. GREAT customer service experience!**This sword looked amazing and ready to dazzle for a birthday gift. Leather case, extendable sword, classy tassel. Sadly, the disappointment was very real. The blade itself is so flimsy. I don't understand the reviews that claim it's quality and balanced. It feels like plastic and ready to bend and break at any minute. I would be afraid to use it all. For $45, I expected a very sturdy worthy sword. Perhaps it's not possible because of the extendable nature of the sword, but buyers need to be aware that this is more like a little toy for a kid. The seller kindly reached out (before it even arrived) to see if we were happy with it. We did gently let them know our experience and suggestions for improvement since they asked. It's too bad because it is such a unique design. I really wanted to like this!

The best collapsible training sword on the market
This sword exceeded all my expectations. I've used another collapsible training sword before, but it was one of those cheap ones with a plastic hilt. The Physcool sword is better in pretty much every way. Before I move on with the review, there's something I have to point out. I didn't get this for tai chi practice, but rather for a European form of swordsmanship called Bolognese side sword. I know from reliable sources that the jian is very similar to the side sword in terms of handling, which is why I considered this would be a fitting training sword. I just had to make a finger ring out of copper wire and add it to the guard, as you can see in the pictures, and now it's good to go. As a result, I'm not going to talk about the sword in terms of its application for my particular training, with one exception, because I'm imagining it won't be relevant to most people who are looking to buy it. Also, I'm not going to talk about its application for tai chi training because I know very little about tai chi swordsmanship. Instead, I'm just going to talk about what makes a good training sword and how well this one meets the criteria.First of all, the handling. Don't be fooled by the narrow blade. It may look like a thrust-centric sword, but it handles like a cut-and-thrust sword. Which is good, because the most popular types of jian are cut-and-thrust swords. It's very easy to execute side sword techniques with it. Given that the jian and the side sword handle similarly, if this handling is good for side sword techniques, that means it's also good for jian techniques. When we talk about durability, this sword outshines the cheap retractable tai chi swords I was talking about earlier. With those ones you can't even do full-powered swings, or the plastic hilt will eventually break. But the Physcool sword doesn't have such problems. I can swing it with full power and I don't have to worry about it falling apart. So if you're looking for a collapsible sword with which you can practise techniques at full speed and power, this one is the only viable option. Now, while I'm certain that it can handle full-powered swings, I'm not sure if it could handle repeated hard impact with another sword, and I'm not going to try to find out. Even if it could handle hard impact, this collapsible sword would really not be good for sparring or full-intensity two-person technique drills for another reason. It's way stiffer than a regular steel training sword. Steel training swords are supposed to be flexible so that when you thrust, there's less risk of injuring your training partner. Given that this sword is collapsible, the blade is very stiff. If you were to thrust with it into a training partner, the blade would not collapse. It locks out very solidly when you swing it open, like a collapsible baton. You need to slam it into the ground in order to close it. All of this means that the blade is too dangerous in the thrust for sparring. In fact, even though the point of the blade is blunt, it's thin enough that it might enter the body if you thrust with enough power. And even though, contrary to popular belief, the jian isn't a thrusting-only sword, you will still find yourself thrusting with one. So sparring with this sword would be a really bad idea regardless of its durability. But it's fine, because that doesn't seem to be its intended purpose in the first place. Solo drills and low-intensity partner drills, on the other hand, shouldn't be a problem. There's only one small problem with the grip, which is why I gave it 4 stars. Otherwise, I would've given it 5. The edges of the grip are quite thin, and sometimes they dig into my hand uncomfortably. Ironically, the grip on the cheap collapsible sword is more ergonomic. But at the end of the day, I'd pick a less than ideal grip over a sword that falls apart when I use it.Finally, aside from the sword, you also get a pencilcase-like carrying bag, a microfiber cloth for cleaning, and two tassles: a red one and a yellow one by default (you can message the seller if you want different colours).

So Far Well Worth the Money
Beautifully crafted sword. Carrying case seems well made. I was surprised how compact it was retracted. Love that I can carry around the case and no one would ever suspect I had a sword. It's telescoping feature obviously requires more blade metal and has a heftier feel. Its heft does require a little more strength to move than my flexible fixed-length stainless steel sword. It extends beautifully and locks in place well. However, in retracting the blade, a couple of blade sections retracted easily while two other sections were stuck requiring a good thumping of the butt to retract the remaining sections. But I like it so far.

very good tai chi practice sword
This sword is for tai chi sword practice, and it is very good for that. The majority of collapsible swords seem flimsy, and much too light. For a collapsible sword, this seems substantial and made well for this type of item. The balance is good. It is heavier than other collapsible (which is good), but could be heavier still. One eventually wishes to use a full-length sword in this practice, and they are heavier than even this model. I would also have liked a more rounded hand-grip. All this said, I still like this quite a lot for what it is designed to do -use in practice. And collapsibles won't scare the beginners and those in other classes.

Overall high quality, good price
Overall this is a nice product. It feels very solid, and it has a very nice look. It came with a good quality case, a polishing cloth, and two colors of tassels. The item does easily scratch from retracting, and it arrived to me a bit scuffed up along the blade. The seller has explained that they do extend and retract the blades for quality control purposes - hence the scuff marks. I really wasn't sure what to expect from this kind of product, but I appreciate the seller reaching out to me and doing everything possible to help me out and answer my questions. Their customer service is A+. I think the person I bought this for will appreciate it.Update: The recipient of this gift was very happy! It was exactly what he'd hoped for.

A very nice and sturdy sword
For traveling, it sometimes isn't practical to pack full length sword - who knew? This retractable / extendable sword is the perfect solution. I've seen some retractable swords that were... let's say "less than inspiring". However, this fully metal (and shiny!) sword is firm and stiff despite being extendable. (And did I mention shiny?) I'm still learning the perfect technique for retracting it, but I'm getting better at it. You will really enjoy this sword. Note: I ordered the 39 inch sword based on the height recommendations, but returned it for the 38 inch so that I wasn't smacking the floor when making sweeping low movements. I'm 6'1", so judge that as you will - everyone is a little different.

I Love My Tai Chi Practice Sword!
Really nice heavy duty practice sword. I did have one issue where it didn't retract, but the seller quickly responded with the correct procedure. It appears that I has not using enough force because I was afraid of breaking the sword. The correct method of closing the sword is from a distance of 10 inch from the ground, keep it vertical poke it to the ground. The sword clothes easily. the Seller assured me that the sword head is solid, so I shouldn't worry about breaking it. Hope this helps.

Perfect and appropriate for my height!
What I really like about this sword is that I was able to get the blade length appropriate for my height (5'4"). My other practice sword (foam core) was the usual 39" and I'm sure I would have adjusted to that length in my new retractable, but feels so much nicer at the 37" appropriate for my height. Found this sword easy to open the blade and close after practice. Smooth and well balanced in my hand. Couldn't wait to go to practice and no disappointments. So happy with my purchase.

Far superior to cheaper alternatives ... worth the extra money
This extendable sword is far superior to cheaper alternatives. I bought for ease of travelling to seminars. This sword has the weight of a "real" sword. Cheaper alternatives are too light and flimsy, making it difficult to get the feel of the form. I also like the handle on this sword compared to the cheaper swords I have handled at seminars. While it is almost 3x the price of other extendable swords, the construction is far superior, and you will appreciate its heft and feel.

Very nice traveling sword
I was pleased to see it was as described. The sword collapses. The collapsing mechanism works smoothly, and repeatedly. The catches reliably hold the sword open or closed. The construction is solid. The weight is good. The balance is pretty good, especially for a collapsing sword. For $45, this is an excellent purchase.Extras: The tassel is an acceptable mass market tassel, strong materials, and is well made.I especially appreciate the addition of the carrying case. It is a plain black zippered case about the size of a small toiletry bag. When the sword is collapsed and inside the case, it is completely discreet and unremarkable. No one will give it a second glance. Which is exactly what I want - no attention, no questions, no inspections.

Exceeds expectations
Perfect training sword. Not a lightweight child's toy like others I've tried, but constructed of high quality materials with precision extension/contraction mechanism. Just the right weight and balance. Seller was happy to work with me to address numerous questions and personal considerations before and after purchase. Highly recommend.

Good with a few misgivings
The product finish is good. However the sword does have an irritating habit of sporadically withdrawing into the handle while practicing with it. This is both distracting and embarrassing! The balance point is 2-3 inches into the blade which makes it feel heavier than its 1 pound weight. I will be purchasing a better balanced one eventually.

Works great as a travel practice sword
I have to travel and cannot bring my regular competition sword with me. This does have some weight to it, so it makes for a good practice sword, and I can collapse the size so it's easy to travel with. Granted, I have not yet taken it through TSA, so we shall see ...Otherwise, it seems to do the job. The "blade" is metal, which is what I wanted.
