helps water
The filter is easy to install and the water tastes a bit cleaner than from the tap. Like that it (supposedly) works on PFAs, as our town has had problems with them. For that reason we use the water from the fridge for cooking, coffee and drinking so I change the filter every 4 months to be safe.

When Amazon sends the right product, it's great
I have no way of testing the water quality for antibiotics or phthalates, and given that this it made of plastic, I wonder if all the phthalates can be truly filtered. That said, it seems to work as well as my old filter and fits my Whirlpool -- when Amazon sends the right product. Three of the four filters I've ordered from them have been the wrong kind (IPS instead of IPM - doesn't fit my fridge), so I've taken to going to the manufacturer's site instead to order them.

Seems to work.
Fits in my fridge okay. Filtered water tastes like water. I did some minimal research and this is Certified by NSF. Both NSF 42 and NSF 53. Went to the Instapure website. Looks legit. Made in the USA.I would give it five stars but will have to give it four stars. Why? I have a TDS Meter. My tap water directly out of the faucet reads 360. After going through the filter the TDS meter it still reads around 350-360. So I don't know if it is actually reducing impurities.

Leaks water in my fridge
Poor product design. I installed it properly and ran 2.5 gallons through it. Everything seemed fine until the next morning when I opened up the fridge and the filter leaked about 12oz of water. I’ve never had that happen after 8 years w/ 16 filter changes of other brands. I tried reinstalling twice and it still has a visible drip. This is smaller in diameter than other filters and the top of it has a 2nd hole but it was stated as the correct model for my fridge.

This filter did not fit in a UKF8001 Filter fitting.

Not what it says
fake! It is not tested to all of the chemicals, just one, which is misleading labeling and advertising.
