Great fun!
My son wanted to expand his comic repertoire from Asterix and Tintin. This series has been a real hit. Lucky Luke tries to outwit the bandits, with the usual comic twists and turns. Great fun!

Mixed bag post-Morris Lucky Luke
When reading a post-Morris Lucky Luke, there are always a few questions that are impossible to get out of your head: Does Achdé's style of drawing come close to that of Morris? Is the scenario as good as Goscinny's? First, Achdé does indeed do a remarkable job of assimilating Morris's style, though his preference for rounded rather than angular forms gives away the authorship pretty clearly. However, I think it might be more worthwhile to ask: does this art and story succeed on its own terms, regardless of the series' earlier history? The answer to that is yes, more or less: Achdé's art is attractive, detailed and readable (and beautifully coloured). The story, on the other hand (in this case the Daltons splitting up and going off on their own) is a little dull and over-complex, creating four or five separate narrative strands that are not particularly interesting or funny in themselves. So a mixed bag, perhaps not the best of the Achdé stories that have appeared so far. Four stars for the visuals.
