Building Small Barns, Sheds & Shelters

I thought this book would have more plans in it. It does have some very useful information on building a structure but if you are looking for a book that has a lot of plans, this is not the book.

Full of good information and detailed illustrations. Wish I found this before I started building instead of on the home stretch. If you are doing your own building and have drive but little know-how, this book is a great one to have. Right now I am using the section on how to hang doors. Everything is easy to understand. Examples of information: characteristics of different wood types, rafter lengths, space requirements for various livestock, how much different feeds and bedding weigh, fencing requirements, how to build fences and gates, every aspect of building animal shelters, how to do electrical wiring, etc. Best of all, lots of helpful detailed illustrations.

Very informative book, but I evidently did not read description too well. It is WAY over my head in instructions to build a structure. It would be great for someone who has some knowledge of constructing but needs more detail. Gave it 4 star for that reason.

Good general information for the uninitiated Builder. Provides lots of ideas and would be a good starting point in the development and subsequent fruition of the project.

I learned how to build a shed, and a small barn with this book. I have never built anything before. This is a must for anyone that wants to build their own building. I bought the first one and someone talked me out of it, as I would take it to my site. I had used it so much that it was getting really tattered, and gave it away, and bought myself a new one. It was worth every cent, and then some.

Bought this out of interest since I'm going to be building a small horse barn. It's not as helpful as I'd hoped, having only a couple designs specifically for horses, but it did help to give me some ideas. If you were looking to build more like general purpose barns, etc, this book would probably be more useful to you.

a great, no nonsense book filled with practical, helpful and valuable advice. I'm enjoying reading this due to it's simplicity and actual, genuinely good guidance. I look forward to making use of nearly all aspects of construction; foundation and building.

A LOT of valuable information in addition to detailed plans and exploded diagrams of a wide range of outbuildings.

A good book. In good condition

This is a good book especially if you are a beginner builder. I would say about 75% of this book covers the basics of how to use tools and how to construct buildings. So if you never used a hammer or don't know the first thing about constructing buildings this book will help you a lot. If you are a seasoned homesteader, only the last 25% of this book will be of interest to you. I also ordered the other book from the same writer "how to build small barns and outbuildings". They look a lot alike one another.
