iOptron SmartStar-G-N114 8803B GPS Telescope (Astro Blue)

This iOptron "SmartStar" telescope has made stargazing much easier and more enjoyable for my whole family. We have used a variety of manually operated telescopes in the past, but this one is by far the best in terms of locating, tracking, and for viewing objects.Set up is very easy, basically just set it up facing South, turn it on, tell it to find a bright object via the controller (like the moon), and it will get very close. We then fine tune the sighting and the GPS will keep it tracking. I would have liked a little better initial accuracy out of the object targeting and it does help to fully read the instructions (I keep a copy on my laptop so we have them in the field) to get the most out of it.This is a lot of fun to use and the quality is right on par with the Meade telescopes I have used in the past.Recommended!CFH

Like it But power supply transformer died Within two hours of use

I am a newbie on telescopes, but I have used a few low cost ones, and this is the best value for the money, very easy to setup, and GPS object locator works great. I looked in some other sites for the same model and it is more expensive, from $340 to $500. Some of the cons are that some parts feel little cheesy, but the optics is pretty decent. So overall I would recommend this telescope for anyone that is interested in seeing the moon, planets, stars and constellations with decent quality. So far I haven't seen any UFO, hehe, just kidding.

Unit came disassembled with NO instructions or product information. Some parts were either missing or incorrect as product does NOT work!

I bought the package because i wanted a portable mount, the telescope was for me a bonus. The mount alone was more expensive than the package. Finally I try it and send everything back because is so cheap.
