Delicious!
I confess I've never had a real, fresh, honest to goodness black truffle before. But I have bought truffle oil many times. I actually did buy something that claimed to be a real truffle some years back - it looked like a truffle, sat in its own tiny little jar and cost me over $25, but it was virtually flavorless. So most of my experience has been with truffle oil. From that perspective, I can tell you that this product is far superior to truffle oil. The aroma and flavor are simply stronger. Yes, it's expensive, but a jar goes a pretty long way. It is absolutely fabulous with anything involving steak, eggs, or potatoes. Sure, truffles can flavor a wide variety of dishes, but to my tastebuds, steak, eggs, and potatoes are the perfect compliment. If you don't believe me, try this for the most unbelievable steak you've ever had: Melt a stick of salted butter in the microwave. Add roughly the same amount of plain goat cheese and whisk to uniform consistency. Add about 1/2 tsp of minced black truffle and some freshly ground pepper and whisk again. Refrigerate until cool and solid. Cook steak according to your favorite method and then slather liberally with this goat cheese truffle butter. You're welcome!

Very Good Chopped Truffles!
I purchased this to use for a madeira demi-glace sauce for beef. Very fresh and pungent aroma. Very good flavor. A little goes a long way, and I suggest topping the jar with extra virgin olive oil as you go. Keeps the truffles from oxygenating, and gives you some lovely black truffle oil in return.I'm a fine dining chef of 30 years experience, and it takes a lot for a product like this to please me.

Disappointing Investment
Since this is expensive, I thought it worthy to share my review. There are so many good reviews here, I was hopeful.I've had truffles (fresh) twice in my lifetime - memories I'll never forget. This was unrecognizable to me as anything I remember. One test serving was all I wanted and rest went to the trash. Next time I attempt truffles... I'll look for a fresh one. Would probably not take the chance to spend this much for anything that comes in a jar. If you know a good one and you're not a paid reviewer, let me know.

I like it, but I doubt it contains "authentic" truffles.
I don't know if the truffle matter in this product is from France or Italy or from China. The questions and comments regarding "Chinese fake" truffles comes from the fact that there are, in fact, truffles grown in China. These are tasteless.Truffle aroma or flavoring is a chemical which is added which mostly provides an aroma, not a taste. However, evident in this product is a subtle, earthy, mushroomy flavor which tastes like that of "authentic" truffles from either Italy or France. So, whatever Truffle Hunter is doing or using with this product, there is a subtle difference between it and other products.I notice, however, that when biting into the pieces of truffle, the inside is bland... tasteless... and suspect that much of the flavor and aroma is in the oil, which has both aroma and flavor.Imported truffles (not from China) are a limited commodity, supposedly, and so are expensive... so I have my doubts about this product. With that in mind, it does provide a delicious aroma and flavor which is subtle but nice... it is especially delicious in dishes including eggs or cream, such as in pasta dishes. It goes very well with a variety of cheeses.

Way Better Than Expected!
These are GREAT!! I blended a small amount into a batch of mashed potatoes and everyone raved about them. Next I mixed about 1/8 tsp. into about 3 tbs. of butter and melted it in the microwave. I used this mix as a dip for sliced Filet Mignon. Every bite sized piece of steak with even a hint of this melt was a mouth watering experience. And, I've only had the jar for 2 days! I'm looking forward to more gastronomical experiments.BTW. My jar has an expiration date of May 17, 2018. I'm sure I'll use the jar up in a little less than 2 years. And I'm sure I'll be buying more. If you want to try something new and delicious, go for it. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Power Up Your Meals
Wow, I didn't realize you could package paradise and put it in a jar! I fell in love with truffles since my first experience with "Truffle Mac And Cheese" at Club 33. Since then, I have been looking for truffle oil and diced truffles. This is my first purchase of truffles and I couldn't be happier. As soon as I got the jar I just had to cook something. The first thing I made was an omelet with chees, tomatoes, mushrooms and a small amount of these truffles. It was amazing. I now use this on many dishes. I haven't even gotten to make my truffle mac and cheese yet. I also made some awesome truffle butter for my steaks. As I use the truffles I do add extra virgin olive oil to reduce air exposure (plus, I will have some great oil when the truffles are gone!).These are definitely food "powerups" and only a little is needed.

Not black truffles
I don't like leaving negative comments, but I myself rely a lot on peoples' comments before buying anything, so I felt I had to return the favor. I love truffles, I have had fresh truffles many times in my life, there is nothing like truffles. This is not truffles. If it is, then it is cultivated in a manner that does not reveal their unique aroma and flavor. At least the product I received.

Delicious as long as you can manage to use it all before expiring
Tastes amazing, the only downside is that it needs to all be used within a week of opening or it could spoil. This isn't really the manufacturers fault since anything to change this fact would be an additive that could impair the flavor. Just keep it in mind since this is a very potent seasoning that using nearly 2 oz in a week is a non-trivial task.In the future I'll probably end up buying dried truffles to avoid wasting portions I can't use in time.
