Jaw-droping finale! (without spoilers of course)
A Bond-like villain; the last general of the alien Airlia intended in punishing the human race while intended in make a device to ask for reinforcements; a mysterious being looking for ways to uncover the hidden truth of Lisa Duncan past; renegade watchers that don't limit themselves to watch; these are some parts of the book that I liked, which are enriched by the militar expertise of the writer who was a special forces soldier, so the tactics go beyond the limitations of writers that usually only get to imagine the Troy Horse. But what made me love this book was the final, all the things that bugged me, as the contempt the Airlia had in regard of humans, the superiority of Aspasia's Shadow toward the best humanity could do against him, the why the Airlia are in this planet, all those things have a very good answer in just a short statement, which makes it the most shocking.Somehow I consider this book the last one of the series. Not that the rest are not interesting, they are and a lot as I loved the eighth book "Nosferatu," is that the next books in the series seem to be quite different from the world it portrayed in the beginning. The books after this one show a bit more of the past, answer some additional questions, but they are another world apart from this one.

The Truth Could Be Called "The Revolution"
This series is high quality sci fi, with pretty good editing and a nice flow from scene to scene. I was used to the Tom Clancy style of abrupt changes, but Bob Mayer's transitions are much smoother and somewhat more logical. He's kind enough to spend time orienting readers who pick up this book without having read the earlier parts of the series, but for those of us who have read the series from the beginning, it just means we have to skip large sections at the beginning. Some sections are pretty gruesome, so I wouldn't recommend this book for younger teens, but the story keeps you reading to find out if humans have victory over seemingly impossible odds. If the author ever reads these reviews, I would suggest a more rigorous editor...I have an extreme sensitivity to misused words, dangling participles, and repetitive analogies, so the prose would be less jarring if some of these problems were addressed. "The Truth" is the end of the actual series, though there are follow-on novels that pick up some of the themes developed here. If it were the best of all worlds, we would have a couple more follow-on novels in this series, because we all know that powerful species who are light years ahead of us won't just take "no" for a permanent answer.

Scary
I was hoping the religions of the world would be real and their founders humans created God. The plot was excellent but I would have preferred a different twist. The gadgets. The Grail clever but i would have preferred more biblical outcome..Great Series..I was never bored.

Lots of twists and turns, full of surprises
I have loved SiFy books since 6th grade (SC now) - Started reading book one while on Vacation and had finished book 3 before the vacation was over. So many twists and turns, It is a great read. Must admit I didn't yet read the last book as I was sort of boycotting the entity that he writes about in that book at the time. Must go back and find out what he did as I know he will surprise me. The interesting thing I found was that what he writes and how he tells this story - it could actually have happened that way . . . it makes you wonder. If it bothers you to have the things you believe in stomped-on . . beware . . Doherty has an imagination that is off the wall.

Sad that the wonderful tale is finished
Reading Area 51 books with Truth being the last one was like being on vacations and travelling through some magic islands so captivating and wonderful that story is.Aliens on Earth, people trying to find the truth about where we came from, that fairy-tale of a story spinning across millenia gives most unusual answers to eternal questions about mankind history - books like Area 51 is something which is needed to let our minds travel away from often harsh reality of today's life.Really grateful to Bob Mayer for his imagination and talent!

A great "conclusion" to the Area 51 saga
As expected The Truth does not disappoint in action and cliffhangers. The Truth wraps up the multiple story lines well and finally uncovers what has been slowing revealed throughout the series. Looking back the series it has been a fun ride watching the original nugget of the story slowly being peeled back to incorporate so much of the ancient world, historical figures, concepts, etc... into the expanding story. I noted in the headline "Conclusion" because there are still two more books in the series that are set in the Area 51 universe but at least the next book, Nosferatu, which I am currently reading is revealing another part of the saga with a different set of characters.

Great Sci-Fi
This series is a great SciFi read; I've enjoyed all the Mayer's books (the ones I've read) and I'm starting on book number 8 in this series now. He never seems to lack for bad guys - it seems like they get worse all the time - I really like Mike Turcotte and Lisa Duncan. Keep hoping they'll finally get a break - maybe next time.

While.a good wrap up it goes on a little
While the book is a good conclusion to everything that hsppened. The Shadows back up plan just felt pointless and he could have been dealt with much earlier and neater

shades of von Daniken
This is the end of a series of these books, and it probably makes more sense if you've read the whole lot. That said, I came to it as a result of a free promotion on amazon and read it cold and it still worked for me.There are shades of von Daniken here, as the author has taken all the conspiracy theories about the ancient civilisations being planted here by aliens and run with them. It is an all action hero saves the world type of book, and very good for when you need to disengage from reality and indulge in pure escapism.

A satisfying conclusion?
Once again the hurtling narrative drives the action at an unnerving pace. More facts mix with well-considered fiction to make an appetizing cocktail of "human" intrigue and galactic mystery. The conclusion is satisfying and lacks, thankfully, any sugar coating. I'm not sure where the series can go next, but I will have a better idea when I've read "Nosferatu".

Pure fantasy escapism!
Loved this series of books - now finishing the last one, (Nosferatu)although it is character and background information more than original plot. It is just as riveting as the main storyline, and answers a lot of questions! I enjoyed this series so much, I am now starting on the 'Nightstalkers' series by the same author!

I enjoyed this, other reviews criticised some of the technical content but that misses the point, this is just a good fun read and not too serious. Good pace, good variety and an exciting finish, what more do you want?
