A great book for beginners
I'd never heard of aquaponics until very recently, so I thought I'd have a look online to find out more. There were a surprising number of books available on the subject, but I decided on this one as it seemed easier to understand than most.I like the informal, friendly style in which the book is written. The author takes you through each step of setting up your aquaponics system without too much jargon, and uses language that is perfectly suited to the beginner.I would recommend this book to anyone interested in aquaponics. It contains all the information you need to get started, and is well written and concise.

Not worth buying.
This book is poorly illustrated. The drawings are horrible and cannot be easily understood. I was hoping to see line diagrams of the complete system with the pipe works. This is rip off.

It may be easy, but not necessarily successful.
This book isn't going to tell you how to balance the nitrogen or adjust the water for healthy fish. I sincerely doubt this person has done an aquaponics system besides research it. He doesn't tell you what to feed your fish, nor does he tell how to do fish care so that they will survive. He doesn't tell fish stocking levels, that is, how many fish, at what size per square foot. Overcrowding by your fish creates diseases, and the fish wastes can overwhelm the cleaning power of your vegetables. Growing fruiting crops like tomatoes takes more than the fish water. He doesn't enlighten his reader on what to use to fertilize them.. What you get is a pen and ink, bare-bones aquaponics design. If you purchase this book, you may need other books to be really successful this. You will be learning by trial and error.

Waste of time.
I'm familiar with self-publishing so I anticipated the amateurish formatting. Problem is, this book is a poorly-organized collection of poorly-explained topics. There are many instructions to go to a website for complete information. Might as well go to the website in the first place!

not really a guide
Lots of information on types of fish and plants to use, just not enough info on how to put it all together. The author doesn't tell you where to put pumps or any plans on how to put the whole system together. I did learn a few things about plants and fish, not what I bought the book for. If you're looking for plans keep looking.

very informative
I have been working with hydroponics for a long time and have been wanting to try aquaponics which is using fish to fertilize the water and then eating or selling the fish. This book is very informative and thorough. I have learned sooo much. I suggest this to anyone who wants to be green, go green, stay green or try new things.
