Freedom from Your Inner Critic: A Self-Therapy Approach

Clear, Concrete, Concise - A great IFS resource
I love Jay's writing because he makes IFS concepts concrete and easy to understand. In this book, he does a fabulous job in explaining the 7 Critics -- explaining why they do what they do -- and providing a framework for other Parts that are typically present when an Inner Critic is active. I love the Inner Critic questionnaire. I administer it to my clients and it quickly gives me a handle on the critical statements that a client uses often. It lends insightful for my clients to understand that these statements damage their self-esteem and self-confidence. I follow the process as outlined in this book to unburden and heal the client's Parts -- and I've witnessed the transformation in my clients over and over. This book is an enormous help in my IFS work with clients.

Powerful approach to transform your inner critic into your greatest champion
I've done lots of work around this over the years but what's beautiful about this approach is that it is steeped in compassion and truth. Compassion for the inner critic that has good intentions for you (hard to believe if you've ever suffered from them!), that listening to your inner critic with compassion and non-judgement heals it. And what's even more exciting about this is that it offers the approach to transform your inner critic into a champion, a mentor. You can take a questionnaire to classify your inner critics (Taskmaster etc) and then use that to help transmute their role in your life. This is some of the powerful transformational tools I have ever come across...highly recommended..

Amazing!
This book blew my mind in more ways than I can recall right now and, even at first reading, had transformed the way I relate to myself.Warmly recommended to anyone who would like to work on the relationship with themselves.

Jay has a very good didactic style
Jay has a very good didactic style; Inner critic is quite a contribution to IFS because of the level of accuracy in the description of such a part. I have not finished it, but I'm enjoying with this contribution. I'm making my conceptualization about Critics broader and deeper.Thanks.Olaf Holm MD,IFS Certified Therapist

Excellent Highly Recomended
This book is excellent! It covers all the stages of IFS not only from the critic point of view but also adds the self and how to heal the inner child.

My inner critic hasn’t let me read this yet, but it looks promising
Haven’t got to it.

Excellent
Once in awhile a book exceeds all expectations. Only part way through but cannot recommend it highly enough. Clearly details types of inner critics, how they came about and exercises to begin the complicated process of keeping them from running your life. Excellent book.

Fantasize yourself into parts then talk to
Nah. Although there is certainly useful information here, it is way less effective than it could have been. If you can get into a self help approach where you will speak to separate aspects of your self like a split personality goof then go wild. This is psychobabble silliness.
